The Woodland Park HS track team has reached the middle of their season. Coach Grier said “this is where the athletes have to really focus and grind through practices.” In a few more weeks the team will slowly begin a taper that should have them feeling fresh and ready to crush their personal best performances.
Speaking of personal best. Out of the 46 athletes that have competed this season, there have been 99 personal best earned. “That is an incredible number this early in the season,” said Coach Grier. 28 athletes have moved into or moved up in the WPHS all-time top 10 list. The track team currently has numerous athletes qualified for state. “We will have to keep improving our marks if we want to stay qualified, but it is a testament to the hard work of our athletes that many of them are in a good position in the state rankings at this time,” said Coach Grier.
The team will travel to Garry Berry Stadium on April 13th for the Petrelli and Hunt Invitational and then to Rye on the 20th for the Thunderbolt Invitational.
