Woodland Park High School Graduation Set For Saturday

Class of 2022 Send-Off Right Around the Corner

The big exit day, and the occasion many students dream about for years, is only days away.

On Saturday, (May 28), the  Woodland Park High School will host their annual graduation ceremony at the football field, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is touted as one of the biggest school events of the year.  Following the commencement, a graduation parade will occur along some of the main side streets, ending on Hwy. 67. This parade has become one of the more popular features of the annual graduation send-off.

Similar to other areas across the country, the district’s graduation  tradition took a slight detour or  mini-hiatus  during the coronavirus epidemic, and when the ceremony reoccurred last year, the graduation was well received. It is even more of a festive occasion this year.

The RE-School District may be experiencing some political changes, but graduation is graduation, an occasion revered by students, parents, teachers and community leaders alike.

Here are some of the details for the grand farewell to the Class of 2022:

The gates will open at 9 a.m. Handicap seating is available on the track in front of the home bleachers. Seating is available in four zones: Home Bleachers, Away Bleachers, Field A and Field B. The Field seating will require audience members to bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on, as no seats will be available.  Special note:  Be prepared to sit on the field if you arrive after 9:30 a.m.

Once a student  has turned in his signed and completed Check-out sheet, he/she will be issued eight tickets. These tickets are the only access entry into the main gym should the ceremony be moved indoors due to weather or a sudden storm. An outside ceremony requires no tickets

Guests will meet or greet graduates in the parade staging area on Panther Drive or on the parade route immediately following the commencement, tentatively scheduled around noon. The parade route will occur along Rampart Range Road and E. Kelley’s Drive.

For those who can’t attend, the ceremony will be live streamed.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Woodland Park High School Gym. However, the preliminary forecast for Saturday appears quite favorable for the 2022 graduation to occur outdoors, and to occur at the football field as scheduled. But Colorado weather is sometimes tricky.
