Put your creative juices to work this year for Mike’s Lighter Side of Christmas Crazy Hat Contest, sponsored by Williams Log Cabin Furniture. This year the theme is “Soundz of the Season.” Come up with your best holiday tunes and put it on your hat.
This event was created 11 years ago to honor local businessman Mike Williams, an avid supporter of the Lighter Side of Christmas Parade. Williams attended the parade each year decked out in a crazy holiday hat he had created. Fellow attendees started
following his lead and the Lighter Side of Christmas Crazy Hat tradition was born. Williams succumbed to cancer 11 years ago. The LSOC committee wanted to continue his tradition and honor his service to the community. His parents, Ruth and Red Williams, attend the after parade event each year to celebrate the creativity of the community. Current Williams Log Cabin Furniture owners Jerry and Vicki Good sponsor the event and provide prizes for the winners each year.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the contest will be done differently this year. Entries will be accepted at the small cabin in front of Williams Log Cabin Furniture from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, November 28. Each entrant will fill out an entry form and be assigned a number. Popular Vote Judging will then take place from November 28 through December 19 inside Williams Log Cabin Furniture. Winners will be announced on the Lighter Side of Christmas website and on Facebook December 20.
