Tuesday, Nov. 10

The Woodland Park Downtown Development Association will hold their monthly meeting on Nov. 10 at 7:30 a.m. in the Woodland Park Council Chambers.  It also will be broadcast live by accessing their website at wpdda.org/about.

Wednesday, Nov. 11

Calling All Vets. Sponsored by the Eric Dickson, American Legion Post 1980 of Woodland Park and scheduled for Nov. 11 at the Shining Mountain Golf Course and Event Center. Two sessions available for veterans and their families at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Free Barbecue with all the fixings for all veterans, active duty military, National Guard, reservists and their families. You don’t have to be a member of any group.  Being a veteran is enough. Due to the pandemic, limited seating is available. RSVP to 719-394-6299.

Veterans Day will occur at Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park, at 201 S. Fairview Street on Nov. 11. One half off of regular admission with active or retired Military I.D. Wings and Warriors will be inside the museum from 12 to 3 p.m. with their wonderful service dogs to discuss how they assist in locating the dogs for veterans. Thursday, Nov. 12

The Teller County Commissioners will meet on Nov. 12 at the Centennial Building in Cripple Creek at 9:15 a.m.

Fun Run. A Gallop In The Garden 5K Fun Run will occur at the Garden of the Gods on Nov. 12 at 4 p.m.

Live Music. Manitou Strings will play on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m., at Armadillo Ranch, 962 Manitou Ave, in Manitou Springs.

The Woodland Park Planning Commission will meet on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers, next to city hall.

Saturday, Nov. 14

 Fossil Beds Activities.  The Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument in Florissant is open year-round. The Monument is now open daily 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument offers 15 miles of beautiful, yet lesser known, hiking trails to explore, a free Junior Ranger Program, three short self-guided trails, a park video and museum exhibits, and bookstore.  For additional information, please call (719) 748-3253 or visit our website: www.nps.gov/flfo or on Facebook or Twitter at /FlorissantNPS. Mueller Hikes and Activities. With cooler days, celebrate autumn at Mueller State Park. This is a great time to avoid the crowds and enjoy a plethora of great trails.   A full schedule of naturalist programs can help you to look, learn and enjoy the surroundings.   All activities are free; a park pass for your vehicle are the only cost. Scheduled hikes, with special naturalists and park experts, are held on some weekends, with social distancing. For more information, call 719-687-2366.

Sunday, Nov. 15

Turkey Shoot. The American Legion Post 1980 will hold a Turkey Shoot on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Teller County Shooting Society Range, 2067 Hwy. 81, (South past Gillette, toward Victor.) This event has been rescheduled from Nov. 8.  Good camaraderie and friendship focused around shooting with a theme.  This years’ theme will be the Philippine Insurrection and we will be shooting period weapons. The weapons will be: Rifle – .30-40 Krag, Handgun – Colt SSA .45 Revolver (Substitute – Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt), Shotgun – 1897 Trench-gun.  All participants will use the same gun and donated ammo.

After Hours Cancelled. The Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce’s monthly gathering, originally slated for Nov. 17 at the Community of  Banks of Colorado branch in Woodland Park, has been cancelled.

Turkey Time Bingo. Scheduled for Nov. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ute Pass Cultural Center This is a Ute Pass Kiwanis FUNdraising Event!  Something fun to do with your family! $20 buys a packet of 10 games, 6 cards for each game. We supply the daubers. Food and drink will be available to purchase during the game. Proceeds go to local youth programs and scholarships. For more information, call 719-644-8482.

Woodland Park Tree Lighting will occur on  Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. in Memorial Park, followed by a fireworks display behind the Woodland Park High School at 6:15 p.m. A variety of other Yuletide festivities will occur throughout the afternoon.
