The Chateau Fire is now 75% contained. The firing operations which went well last night allowed the crews to cool the area along the blackened line in Division B. Two crews of firefighters in Division E were able to shore up along the line in the northwest corner. Division J continued to work the northeast line, but pockets of heat concentration are still present in the interior. Mid-day, two Type II crews in Division X arrived to improve and secure line around structures. Northern portions of the fire got significant moisture in the form of rain and hail for at least 30 minutes around 6 pm. Aerial support responded to the Division requests for water drops throughout the day.
The size of the fire is estimated to be the same as yesterday, 1423 acres.
