The Mountain Jackpot News

Meet the Team of Editors Behind Our TMJ Articles

For more than three decades, The Mountain Jackpot News has served as the independent voice of Colorado's Teller County and Ute Pass communities. Founded in 1989, TMJ was built on a simple belief: the stories that matter most are often the ones overlooked by larger media outlets.

From Woodland Park and Divide to Green Mountain Falls, Cripple Creek, Victor, Florissant, and Manitou Springs, our mission has always been to tell the stories of the people who call the mountains home.

We cover local government, community events, schools, business, public safety, sports, outdoor recreation, history, and the issues that shape life in Colorado's high country. Whether it's a town council decision, a championship game, a new business opening, a wildfire concern, or a local resident doing something extraordinary, we believe every story contributes to the character and future of our mountain communities.

But Mountain Jackpot is more than a newspaper: We are a reflection of a unique way of life.

Life moves differently in the mountains. People know their neighbors. Small businesses support one another. Volunteers step up when help is needed. Residents care deeply about preserving the natural beauty, history, and independent spirit that make this region unlike anywhere else in Colorado.

That spirit is what drives our reporting.

Our readers are entrepreneurs, ranchers, teachers, first responders, outdoor enthusiasts, retirees, community leaders, and families who have chosen to build their lives among the forests, peaks, trails, and historic mining towns of the Pikes Peak High Country. They value local voices, authentic journalism, and a publication that understands the communities it serves because it lives here too.

At TMJ, we strive to provide balanced reporting, thoughtful commentary, engaging features, and a healthy dose of local personality. We celebrate community successes, ask tough questions when necessary, and shine a spotlight on the people, places, and issues that impact daily life across the region.

As media continues to become more nationalized and disconnected from local communities, we remain committed to what we've done since 1989: delivering meaningful local journalism with integrity, independence, and a genuine love for Colorado's mountain towns.

Whether you've lived here your entire life, recently moved to the mountains, or simply love visiting the area, thank you for making The Mountain Jackpot News part of your week.

Because in the high country, every community has a story worth telling.
