John (Jack) Raymond Derby, Jr., of Divide passed away on November 10.

Jack was born in Denver, Colorado, on January 31, 1931. He graduated from East High School, then joined the Navy to fight in the Korean War.

After returning from the war he graduated from Denver University and married Marjorie L. Metcalf. They both taught school in the Denver area for many years. Later he moved to New Mexico where he worked breaking and training horses. After retirement he returned to Colorado, living in Divide with his sister.

He is preceded in death by his wife in 2009, and his nephew, Walter L. Derby, the same year. He is survived by his sister, Joanne R. Derby; his nieces, Barbara L. Ali and Shawna R. Berry; his nephews, Steven B. Derby and Donald J. Derby; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Interment will follow a grave side service on Tuesday, November 15 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a memorial fund for John R. Derby, Jr., at Park State Bank, Woodland Park, Colorado, 80863.
