NFL Game Watching Tips for Week 14

It’s Raider Week once again, as the Denver Broncos confront their one-time, most hated enemy in Vegas.

Game time this Sunday (Dec. 7) is 2:05 for a very important on-the-road showdown in glitzy Allegiant Stadium, just outside Las Vegas.  Alright, we are not going to lie. This should be an easy win for the Broncs due to the woes experienced by the Raiders this year, under the direction of Pete Carroll (at least for now, he still has the job).  Unless Pete starts winning a few games, he will get the boot, as do all Raider coaches it seems.

That said, Pete has a thing for the Broncos. His previous stomping of Denver by a 43-8 margin in Super Bowl XLVIII in Feb. 2024 during his time as head coach with Seattle still is a mighty sore subject in the minds and hearts of Bronco fans.  But his task in overhauling the Raiders is a tougher assignment for Big Pete.

Nevertheless, this rivalry is one of the best in the NFL, and a top hit for viewing at your favorite local sports bar or eatery. The overall series historically still has the Raiders with a commanding 73-57-2 win margin, but those stats don’t mean too much, as they are highlighted by a dominance by either the Raiders or Broncos during certain eras. The rivalry is one of the most heated in the NFL, with these two teams meeting 20 times on Monday Night football

Even though the Raiders have taken refuge in Las Vegas, no love is lost between these two organizations as much personal animosity rules the land. Former Broncos quarterback and head coach Mike Shanahan had a bitter feud with former Raiders owner Al Davis that became legendary.  And then there was a period in which former Broncos’ disgraced coach Josh McDaniels served as the Raiders’ head skipper.

Look for Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton to keep his team focused and not get caught up in the historic drama. The Broncos are still hedging their bets on becoming the number one seed in the NFL playoffs. In order for this to happen, they must beat the Raiders as their schedule gets much tougher in the last few weeks of the season.
