NFL Watching Tips for Week 12

Brought to you by McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub

Finally, a week off for the playoff-bound Denver Broncos, who are making their first real quest for a Super Bowl ring since 2015.

The results of Week 11 were not quite finalized, prior to our press time, but regardless, playoff fever in our local High Country is alive and well.

The bye-week has arrived with the team’s next game not scheduled until Nov 30 against the Commanders in friendly Washington D.C.  Hope we get the game played out before the team’s home stadium is suddenly changed in honor of Donald Trump, or another government shutdown ensues.

Enough of national politics, as this could disrupt the winning vibes of the Broncos in an NFL season absent of any real dominant teams. This has been a growing trend in the NFL. All the top teams, including the Broncos are flawed in some major way, and how they overcome their own weaknesses could determine who will be headed to Levi’s Stadium (in California) in early 2026 for the Super Bowl, or who get eliminated in the first series of playoff competitions.

Plenty is at stake for the Broncs this week, while they rest their weary bodies and anxiously watch their rivals on the sidelines.

In a pivotal game for the AFC West Division, the KC Chargers will battle the Indianapolis Colts, who may just be the team to watch for NFL supremacy this year.

That game is slated for Sunday at 11 a.m. and this match-up promises to emerge as a definite thriller. If the Chiefs hope to keep their playoff hopes alive, they will probably have to win on their home turf. It just doesn’t seem fair to think of the playoffs without the defending AFC champs for the last two years.

Another key pivotal game is the Eagles and the Cowboys. In another big games for AFC West fans will pit the Raiders against the Browns.

When the Broncos do play against the  Commanders, it will determine which team gets the edge in their extremely tight rivalry.  If you count the 1988 Super Bowl, this series is tied 8-8. Yes, the 1988 Super Bowl has definitely sparked some bad blood, as that was a game the Broncs were favored to win, but ended up getting scalped by the D.C. team.

If you are looking for a great place to enjoy Bronco games and all the NFL slug matches, head to McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub in Divide, the sponsor of our fine NFL Page and Broncos’ preview. McGinty’s, with their sports bar setup, offers a prime opportunity to view nearly all of the NFL games and partake in some great game food and drink specials.  McGinty’s also sports a loyal group of Bronco fans and some enthusiastic cynics too

Another great NFL watching spot is Jess’ Place in Woodland Park, the Chief headquarters in Colorado, with a rather vocal crowd of football fans.  Cheering for any other team that the Chiefs, could amount to bodily injury.

Enjoy Week 12.
