Area Predictions and Scores Widely Vary on Super Shoot-out
Trevor Phipps and Rick Langenberg
Alright, the Super Bowl hype is on and raging across every media outlet and online vehicle across the Universe. Nope, area sports fans, there is no escape
The only thing worse is the political discourse over the latest executive order issued by President Trump. Maybe, we will get up to 500 by the week’s end. Or maybe we will have another gun town hall forum to soothe tensions over the current makeup of our state legislature and their latest anti-weapon legislation.
Enough political gibberish. Let’s get back to pro football.
Yes, our fine national media experts Tony Romo, Jim Nantz, Terry Bradshaw, Bill Cowher, Tom Brady and more are going ballistic with their analysis. The prediction bombardment is intense and growing by the hour.
And locally, our fine friends in The (Colorado Springs) Gazette, who recorded a dismal track record in last week’s AFC Championship game of maybe 20 percent correct (Gazette Boys and Girls, keep your day jobs, those picks were pathetic). And then you get fine scribes like Woody Paige whose opinions vary every second and give the word fickle new meaning (almost resembling the golf swings of Trevor Phipps, Rick Langenberg and Charlie Chambers combined).
So, in other words, you’re on your own in predicting the potential winners and losers of Super Bowl LIX. If anything, the Feb. 9 shoot-out will be a great duel with an enthusiastic fan based from both sides, who aren’t lacking in strong opinions. Have you ever tried to argue with a Philly Eagle or KC Chief fan?
Erik Stone, Teller County Commissioner
“Saquon Barkley (Eagles running back) will be the difference. “
Eagles 30, Chiefs 27.
Jason Mikesell, Teller County Sheriff
“Absolutely Kansas City by 21 points.”
Chiefs 35, Eagles 14
Dennis Zerull, This Week in the Bear Cave Podcast Host
“I think the running back posing as a quarterback (Jalen Hurts) will lead the Eagles and their horrible song to a victory over the Kansas City “Swifties” followed by an epic (Travis) Kelce (break up song.”
Eagles 34, Chiefs 21
Loriann Bentzler, Peak View BBQ Bartender
“I think the Chiefs are gonna’ win again because it’s rigged. Next year Green Bay is coming for them though!”
Chiefs 28, Eagles 24
Chris Deisler, Woodland Park Police Chief
“I’ll likely be an outlier here but here it goes. I pick the Eagles because Saquon Barkley is on a mission.”
Eagles 34, Chiefs 14
Aaron Vassalotti, Woodland Park City Manager
“Chiefs over the Eagles. History is waiting to be made and Andy Reid’s preparation and play calling will be the difference in this game.”
Chiefs 41, Eagles 38
Dan Williams, Teller County Commission Chairman
“The Eagles win by two touchdowns. Their quarterback is ready and their coach is one to none.”
Eagles 28, Chiefs 14
Tanner Coy, Tweeds Fine Furnishings President
“Chiefs win… again. They seem to have the coaching, game strategy, players, experience, and on-the-fly adaptability it takes to beat every team they play. Not to mention more luck than any team in history!”
Chiefs 35, Eagles 31
Kellie Case, Woodland Park Mayor
“I’ll go with the Eagles because they seem to have had a great season and it’s time for them to rise to the top!”
Eagles 24, Chiefs 21
Charlie Chambers, Ute Pass Historical Society President
“I believe the Chiefs will come out on top. Their strong offense has consistently impressed me, and I think they have the edge this year. With Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and so many targets available, I believe they will outperform the Eagles.”
Chiefs 28, Eagles 24
Jessica “Cupcake” Nichols, Jess’ Place Owner
“Because KC paid the refs!”
Chiefs 42, Eagles 14
Jason Nichols, Jess’ Place Co-Owner
“I believe the chiefs will win, because they want it too bad, and they will beat the record and get the three-peat that has never been done before.”
Chiefs 32, Eagles 27
Derek Gray, Annoying Chiefs Fan
“Chiefs obviously! Patrick Mahomes was sent by God to 3-peat. Broncos suck!”
Chiefs 34, Eagles 31
Bill Camp, Your Neighborhood Realty Real Estate Agent
“The Eagles defense and Barkley will prevail in this one!”
Eagles 27, Chiefs 17
Mike Perini, Perini and Associates Owner
“The Chiefs will pull off NFL history’s first Super Bowl 3-peat. Why? Mahomes. Travis Kelce. Ms. Taylor and her ‘Swifties.’ Plus, the Chiefs lead the Eagles in all-time series.”
Chiefs 35, Eagles 28
Renee Bunting, Teller County Sheriff Lieutenant
“I think they’re feeling the pressure and so it’s going to be a big spread for the win. Go big or go home!”
Chiefs 31, Eagles 15

Chiefs 31, Eagles 17
Trevor Phipps, Local Sports Genius/TMJ Bail bondsman
“I think the Eagles are just a better all-around team that’s full of star players. The Chiefs’ rein has to end sometime and I think 2025 will be the year! And I believe Hurts and Barkley have what it takes to make Taylor Swift start crying halfway through the game.”
Eagles 34, Chiefs 31
Lynn Phipps, Town Mom
“I want the Chiefs! I pick them just because they are located closer to me.”
Chiefs 25, Eagles 15
Dave Powell, Powell Chiropractic & Wellness Center Owner
“I am really pulling for the Eagles, but the Chiefs are just too good. They will win by a touchdown. It could come down, though, to whoever scores first. It is going to be a real high-scoring game.”
Chiefs 31, Eagles 24
Rick Langenberg, TMJ Editor
“The Chiefs are just too good in close-scoring games, and there is no way I can support any team from Philly. As a Pittsburgh native, that act would amount to a form of treason that could prompt a death sentence. Philly is a city that pelted Santal Claus with snow balls, with no mercy. The Chiefs’ fan base is more amusing, and stronger in this area. A few places, (and we will not mention names) will lead you to the exit door, if you root against the Chiefs. Whoever has the ball last, though, will win. It will amount to a very high-scoring game.”
Chiefs 38, Eagles 34
Melissa “Missie” Trenary, Cripple Creek City Councilwoman
“I would really like to see the Eagles do it, but the Chiefs will probably be flying in their own refs. I do expect to see a fairly high scoring game on both ends of the field. I see the Chiefs (following two bad calls by the refs) pulling ahead in the final three minutes. That being said, E-G-L-S-E-S. Go Eagles!”
Chiefs 48, Eagles 45
Jeff Bauer, DVM, Woodland Veterinary Clinic
“You have to go with the Chiefs. They are just too tough. I hope it is a good game, but you never really know. It seems like we either have a great game in the Super Bowl or a complete rout.”
Chiefs 31, Eagles 28
Ralph Ostlund, Contractor and Legendary Skier.
“Tough to go against (Andy) Reid and (Patrick Mahoney. They have become the new ‘New England’ and are maybe even better. Very lucky too. That said, going to go with Philly and hope for a good game.”
Eagles 31, Chiefs 24
Greg Rodriguez, Head Administrator, Forest Edge Dental Care
“I hate the Chiefs. There is no way I can support the Chiefs under any, any circumstances. The NFL is trying to rig the game in their favor. Definitely rooting for the Eagles and think they will win this time.”
Eagles 35, Chiefs 28
