Broncos Face the Ruthless Chiefs at Arrowhead

Check Out Top Matchups During Week 10

Trevor Phipps

Now that the Broncos have entered the real hard part of their season, it will be interesting to see how they match up against the KC Chiefs, the best team in the NFL for the past three seasons.

For the last few weeks, most sports journalists in the state have been crossed by this one. Some have said that the Broncos have a chance to beat the Chiefs, and it could become a week for an upset. Others though, are smarter.

Personally, the Broncos have just not yet given me the confidence to think that they have what it takes to dethrone the Chiefs who stayed undefeated longer this season than anyone else. Even though the Broncos did end their losing streak against the Kansas City team last year, and they play them more than most teams, I still think I would be crazy to say that they have a chance to go into Arrowhead Stadium and steal a win from the “Swifties.

Of course, stranger things have happened, and it probably is just a matter of time before a team deciphers the Chiefs’ code this season. But I wouldn’t expect it to happen his week.

Even though the Broncos have made strides since losing to the Seahawks and Steelers in the early part of the season, I still tend to see mistakes during every game, such as turnovers.  (Don’t even mention that word to Broncos Coach Sean Payton, as he might throw you in jail or force you to carry a football for 14 straight days.)  Unless they can clean up all of their stupid mistakes and have a near perfect game, I still am not seeing a Broncos victory in Week 10.

The Chiefs this year just don’t seem to miss a beat. They are a ruthless foe for their fellow AFC West competitors, such as the Broncs.

But as a Bronco fan I can only hope Denver comes up with good enough of a game plan to give the Chiefs a serious run for their money. If anything, I think Denver has a small chance to make this one close, forcing Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes to resurrect one of his glorious comeback victories.

Vegas Line: Chiefs by 9.5

Trevor’s Pick: Kansas City Chiefs 31, Denver Broncos 27

Tennessee Titans at Los Angeles Chargers Sunday 2:05 p.m.

People were shocked in Week 7 when the Chargers fell to the Cardinals, but they have been back and they mean business. In fact, this week could be the week where the Chargers surpass the Broncos in the AFC West with a big win versus a Broncos loss.

Then, after the Tennessee Titans lost three in a row before the season’s halfway point many thought they were done. Let’s be honest, the Titans haven’t impressed anyone this year, and I don’t think they will start this week.

The Chargers will keep their momentum going while Harbaugh is trying hard to fulfill his promise of turning this team around. I’m hoping there will be teams that will stand in the way of the Chargers taking the Broncos’ possible Wild Card spot, but I don’t think we will get a chance to see it this week.

Vegas Line: Chargers by 3.5

Trevor’s Pick: Los Angeles Chargers 34, Tennessee Titans 17

Other Games to Watch

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens Thursday 6:15 p.m.

The Bengals have not done much at all this season and they may prove to be the league’s most overrated team. They only have less than half the season left to prove that they are a playoff contender.

The Ravens had a rough start, but I think they have things figured out at this point. They too need a win bad this week to stay relevant, but it is a division rivalry game so anything could happen.

Vegas Line: Ravens by 3.5

Trevor’s’ Pick: Baltimore Ravens 34, Cincinnati Bengals 21

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys Sunday 2:25 p.m.

For those who don’t want to watch the Chargers Sunday afternoon, they can tune into this division rivalry match. The Cowboys are also a team everyone thought would be better, but it could still be a close match.

The Eagles seem to be meeting expectations, and they should take advantage of this opportunity to fly above the Cowboys. But it is hard to count the Cowboys out when they play at home.

Vegas Line: Cowboys by 1.5

Trevor’s’ Pick: Philadelphia Eagles 28, Dallas Cowboys 24

Detroit Lions at Houston Texans Sunday 6:20 p.m.

Out of all of the impressive teams in the NFC this year, the Detroit Lions are definitely sitting on top. The Houston Texans have also come out swinging this season and shocked many with their success

The Texans are sitting nice in the AFC South, but they will still want to win. I think this one could go either way, but Houston probably has a slight advantage since they are playing at home.

Vegas Line: Texans by 1.5

Trevor’s Pick: Detroit Lions 31, Houston Texans 30

Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Rams Monday 6:15 p.m.

Neither of these teams are probably worth watching, but hey it is Monday Night Football! The Dolphins might have had a good season before losing their starting quarterback.

The Rams on the other hand have been hanging tough. After Week 8, the Rams were only a game behind first place in the NFC West.

Vegas Line: Rams by 1.5

Trevor’s Pick: Los Angeles Rams 28, Miami Dolphins 19
