Key Matchups Abound in Week 10
It’s onto Week 10 in the NFL; and (with a little luck) the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson Comeback Tour.
For once, we can’t say any negative comments regarding the Broncs, in lieu of their shocking victory against the KC Chiefs. (It was sure great to silence those obnoxious Chief fans for a change). And with a week off and the trade rumors hopefully subsiding, all is well in Broncos’ country. That’s the good news.
The bad news is the Broncos face a surmountable challenge on the road against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, where the temperature could rise to the minus-15 level. That’s if the Broncos are lucky.
Game time for the Nov.13 showdown is 6:15. Just in time to grab a cold one and hearty Monday night meal at your favorite area sports bar/hangout and be glad you are not enduring a brutal football cold fest in Buffalo.
The Bills have been up and down this year, but still they will undoubtedly be rated as the favorites, which may fare well for the Broncos. Denver is currently 3-5, but coming off a hot streak of two straight wins and a much-improved defense. Plus, our state hero and (occasional bum) Russ is definitely playing smarter and much more efficient.
All in all, it should be a good game.
As for other hot games this weekend for our diehard football nuts, we suggest you check out the Lions and Chargers Sunday afternoon, or the Raiders and Jets; these outcomes could impact the possible but still uphill fight for a Broncos playoff spot. For early game bouts, the Packers/Steelers match-up and the Browns/Ravens duel could provide some good old-fashion exchange of bad football blood.
In reality, the Broncos’ Monday night game will actually serve as a big highlight of Week 10.
If you are looking for a great and fun place to check out the action, don’t forget McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub in Divide, the “The Center of the Known Universe,” the sponsor of our fine NFL Football page and Bronco previews and a slew of predictions.
McGinty’s, with its sports bar setup and winner of many Best Of awards in the High Country, offers a prime opportunity to view nearly all of the NFL games and partake in some great game food and drink specials. For Broncos’ games, they are offering great deals on Coors draft beers and Bloody Mary’s.
They offer a prime spot also for Thursday night games, which are almost impossible to view these days, unless by streaming. This Thursday’s game pits the Panthers against the Bears.
College Showdowns
If college pigskin is your thing, you are in definite luck. The mighty Air Force Falcons will square off against Hawaii in an away game Saturday night, which will be aired at 9 p.m. Air Force is experiencing one of their best seasons in recent history, sporting an explosive offensive that is deceiving everyone. In addition, they are making major improvements on defense, a trend that started during the second half of their big and surprising win against Wyoming. Can Air Force continue to move up in the national rankings? Our PrimeTime CU Buffs will host Arizona Nov. 11 at noon. CU has experienced some definite ups and downs, but is doing well overall, considering their brutal schedule. It seems the theatrics of Coach Prime Time, Deion Sanders, have generated more attention; and with that comes a lot more pressure and expectations. And CSU will host San Diego State on Saturday evening at 5 p. m.
And there are great rivalries raging between top pigskin teams across the nation, as the season reaches a mini- conclusion regarding probable bowl games.
McGinty’s is a great spot for college ball.
