The Woodland Park City Council will meet on June 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the WP Council Chambers. The meeting is available in-person and on Zoom. Special Note: Council meetings now begin at 6:30 p.m., based on action taken by the city leaders recently.

 

NBA Playoff Party. McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub is hosting a Denver Nuggets Watch Party on June 1, the kick-off for the NBA final playoffs, and throughout the playoff season. McGinty’s will feature food specials and $3 Bristol beers, as the Nugs try to snag their first-ever NBA title. See related promotional advertisement in this week’s TMJ for more information. As of press time Sunday, the Nuggets’ opponent for the NBA Finals still hadn’t been determined, pending the outcome of the Eastern Championship playoffs. In any case, the opening of the NBA Finals is slated for June 1. Come cheer the Nuggets on and make “The Joker” (Nikola Jokic) and company proud. Farmers Market Kick-off. This annual summer and fall tradition kicks off on June 2 on North Street next to Memorial Park and occurs every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our Vendors come from all over Colorado and provide a variety of products to choose from. Including, Colorado fruits and vegetables, fresh baked bread, honey, coffee, food trucks, and more. We have space for 100 vendors, providing a large variety of products. Shining Mountain Opening. The Shining Mountain Golf Course and clubhouse bar has opened for the 2023 season. Tee-times are available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. In addition, the driving range and practice chipping and putting greens are open for practice. SM will feature special trivia nights and other special events for the public. Teller County Playgroup, hosted by Community Partnership at 701 Gold Hill Place in Woodland Park, is FREE to any Parent or Caregiver with children ages 5 & under. Older siblings welcome.

Exchange wisdom and support with other parents while exploring the world with your child through music, movement, arts and crafts, free play, story-time, field trips, and themed structured activities. Meeting three times a week, Playgroup offers opportunities for developmental screenings, school readin​ess assessments, and information on local resources. Live Music. The Painted Bear gift shop in Green Mountain Falls kicks off its summer music series, featuring live performers on Friday evenings throughout the summer from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The music occurs outdoors (special arrangements are made in case of inclement weather) in the scenic, back patio area. Saturday, June 3

The Gold Camp Victorian Society will present Original Historical Gold Camp Trolley Tours again this summer. The tours, which kicked off on Saturday, May 27, continuing every Saturday through Labor Day weekend, with the exceptions of June 17th and August 12th. Each tour begins at 1 pm from the District Museum parking area in Cripple Creek. These 90-minute tours are led by our Victorian hostesses and feature many of the characters from Cripple Creek’s storied past. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Please join us for a ride into history that is fun for the whole family. Space is limited, so please arrive early to reserve your seat. Top of the World Rodeo. Come enjoy rodeo at its best! Great venue, beautiful views, and elite competition. The Top of the World Rodeo, scheduled at the Teller County Fairgrounds arena off Teller One from June 9-11, is a Colorado Pro Rodeo Association (CPRA) sanctioned event. Events include Bareback Riding, Barrel Racing, Breakaway Roping, Bull Riding, Mixed Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Tie Down Roping and a crowd favorite, Mutton Busting. Additional activities include a street dance, beer garden, food vendors, and more.
