Although the Lady Panthers did not win their league for the third time in a row this year, they still showed up to the regional championship tournament with a mission. Their endeavor from the beginning of the season proved successful when they swept the regional tournament to earn a chance in the state championship for the first time in recent years.

The ladies travelled out to the Vail area last Saturday to play in their 2A/3A/4A Tri-Peaks regional tournament. During their first challenge against Severance, the Lady Panthers beat them in three matches to move forward in the tournament bracket.

Woodland Park then took on Eagle Valley and once again beat them in all three matches to take the regional trophy home. The ladies will now represent the Tri-Peaks League at the state championship tournament starting this Thursday.

The Lady Panthers are currently 17-8 overall and 11-1 in their league. On Thursday, their first match in the tourney is against the 18-7 Niwot Cougars who also swept their way into the state championship tournament last weekend.

The Lady Panthers traveled to the Denver Coliseum for their first match in the state tournament early Thursday. Unfortunately, the team lost in round one to Niwot with one win and three match losses, eliminating them from further play in the state volleyball championship tournament.
