Tuesday, Oct. 5

Meeting Cancellation.  The Green Mountain Falls Board of Trustees’ meeting for Oct. 6 has been cancelled. The next regular scheduled  meeting is set for Oct. 19.

Wednesday, Oct. 6

Wellness Walk. Scheduled for Sept.29  at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the lower level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission.

The Cripple Creek City Council will meet on Oct. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the CC Council Chambers.

Thursday, Oct. 7

The Teller County Commissioners will meet on Oct. 7  at 9:15 a.m. in the Centennial Building in Cripple Creek.

Gallop in the Garden. This is a 5K Fun Run/Jog/Walk in Garden of the Gods Park on Oct. 7  at 3:30 p.m. Meet at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center. Free admission.

The Woodland Park  City Council will meet on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. in the WP Council Chambers, next to city hall.  In-person attendance is permitted and the meeting is available for participation via Zoom.

Friday, Oct. 8

Woodland Park High School Homecoming Parade.  Scheduled for Oct 6 at 6 p.m. in downtown Woodland Park, with the route concluding at the Ute Pass Cultural Center. The parade will occur just before the big homecoming game, as the Woodland Park takes on Salida.  See related sports article in this week’s TMJ.

Quilt show and Sale. Scheduled between Oct. 8-10 at the First Christian Church at 16 E. Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs. The Quilters of First Christian Church are holding their biennial Quilt Show and Sale. Specific event times are  Friday, October 8 from 10:00am-3:00pm, Saturday, October 9 from 10:00am-3:00pm, and Sunday, October 10 from 9:00am-noon.  Items for sale are beautiful large, medium and small quilts; table runners for all seasons; potholders and other small items; children’s and baby quilts; et al.  Cash, checks and credit cards accepted for payment. All proceeds from the sale go to local missions. Saturday, Oct. 9

FREE Chili Drive-Through and Fire Department Fund-raiser. Scheduled at the Cascade Firehouse (8015 Severy Drive, Cascade, Co 80809)   on Sat. Oct. 9 from 5-7 p.m. We will be dishing out as many servings of our famous firehouse chili as you like. Just drive up to the bay, for dinner on us. This is the annual fund-raiser for the Cascade volunteer department. We would like to thank the community for their support, and look forward to seeing you on Oct. 9. Haunting at the Old Homestead. Thin Air Theatre Company will “scare you silly” with this year’s fall production from the warped mind of Chris Sorensen. When a spirit starts scaring off clients of Cripple Creek’s favorite brothel, The Old Homestead, Madam Pearl de Vere offers a hefty reward to anyone who can rid her house of the ghost. On a dark & stormy night (of course it would be dark & stormy) three of the unlikeliest ghost-busters turn up to answer her call. Steeped in mystery, history, thrills & chills… not to mention plenty of laughs, this show promises to be a Halloween treat for the whole family.
