On September 19, Woodland Park’s newest lodging facility the Microtel by Wyndham, located on the west side of town next to the Woodland Country Lodge, held a celebration to announce its grand opening. Even though the hotel has been open to the public since last May, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the celebration was postponed.
Many business owners and key civic leaders attended the celebration, such as Woodland Park Mayor Val Carr. The Microtel by Wyndham property is touted as another needed place to stay for tourists and visitors, as Woodland Park tries to become more of a destination area. For some time, Woodland Park has experienced a huge shortage in lodging rooms. The newest property will help fill this void. In an earlier celebration at the Woodland Country Lodge for a monthly Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce After Hours gathering, much optimism was expressed about the 2021 season.
During the open house celebration, the hotel offered guests appetizers and beer, wine, or water and other beverages. The visitors were able to dine in the hotel’s conference room area and roam the halls and check out the lobby. Employees of the facility also offer the guests a tour that took place every half hour during the three-hour-long event.
