GMF Names Another Town Manager Finalist

Well, don’t get your hopes up too much, but Green Mountain Falls may finally secure a town boss.

Or, will the fourth time become the charm?

According to a GMF press release, the town has announced a new finalist, Angie Sprang. Sprang currently serves as the policy and management analyst for the town of Carbondale. She also is a recent graduate of the Master of Arts, political science program at the University of Colorado. In addition, she holds an undergraduate degree in psychology and business from Indiana University. Sprang holds certifications in human resource management and other degrees.

Prior to holding the reins as Carbondale’s policy and management stint, Sprang served as the deputy town clerk and municipal clerk in Carbondale. She also was a human resources manager at the Grand Titon Lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  In addition, Sprang was an account manager with Press Ganey & Associates, Inc., where she designed Lean Six Sigma projects and was responsible for complete budget design.

The search for a town manager has been exhaustive for GMF trustees. Town leaders previously set their eyes on three finalists for the position, and held informal meet and greet forums with the three top candidates; all of whom has impressive credentials.

But each time, a final contract could not be reached. Limited money for the position appeared to play a role in this trend of rejection.

In fact, Mayor Jane Newberry recently announced the trustees were taking a slight breather in the search process, but hinted that they were relying on government experts to locate qualified candidates

The town has sought a full-time, permanent manager since early winter. For the last year and a half, Jason Wells, the former city administrator for Manitou Springs, held the position as a part-time interim town manager. Wells, who still works for GMF, recently started a new role as the owner/operator of the former Ancient Mariner bar/eatery in Manitou Springs.

Besides having a town manager, the GMF government operates with a marshal, a town clerk/treasurer and a part-time planner.
