A New Dining Destination in Cripple Creek
On the outskirts of Cripple Creek, as you drive Hwy 67 past the Windwood Casino, cast your gaze upwards to the roof of the casino and you’ll see something new. Perched atop the Windwood Casino, is a large domed structure, rather like a geodesic dome. This houses the latest restaurant to serve hungry visitors and residents alike in our little mountain town.
The Roundabout Restaurant, a fitting name for the establishment, because the circular floor of the establishment slowly revolves giving diners a truly panoramic view of Cripple Creek and the surrounding countryside. Historic mining structures, groves of Aspens on the mountain hillsides and the picturesque town present an ever-changing view as the whole restaurant slowly rotates.
The fare at the Roundabout is decidedly up scale with the emphasis on fresh seafood, flown in daily. Since we have no airstrip in Teller County, a helicopter, laden with choice seafood, lands in the parking lot next to the Winwood Casino every morning to deliver the catch of the day.
Chefs prepare a variety of traditional and creative Nouvelle Cuisine recipes and the menu changes daily. From Oysters Rockefeller to Shrimp Scampi or Plank Grilled Salmon, seafood lovers are sure to find something to please.
Also on the menu, when available, are Colorado Venison, Game and Trout. Meat lovers rejoice, there is nothing as delectable as Bacon Wrapped Elk Medallions. Spring Bear Stew is also a worthy temptation to your taste buds.
Desserts are all in house made from scratch. Cheesecake, Mocha Cake, Death by Chocolate and seasonal fresh fruit pies are just a few of the options.
Tomorrow, which is April 1, the restaurant will be hosting its grand opening. The entire dinner menu is buy one get one half off, and drinks are on the house! Mention that you read it here, and you’ll also receive a complementary dessert.
