Law enforcement musical chairs

unnamed (2)John Gomes, the former deputy chief of the Woodland Park Police Department, enjoys a few light moments during a retirement celebration held last Thursday in the Woodland Park Council Chambers.  Gomes, who sports an extensive nearly 30-year stint with the Woodland Park PD and other agencies in the area, such as the Colorado State Patrol, recently was named as the new undersheriff for Teller County, serving directly under Sheriff Mike Ensminger. Ensminger was sworn into office for his final term on Jan. 13 (see related story).  Gomes was highly lauded for his service with Woodland Park, a ceremony attended by many law enforcement leaders in the area, including current Cripple Creek Police Chief Mike Rulo,  District Attorney Dan May and many officials of the Teller County Sheriff’s Department.  Photo by Rick Langenberg
