Divide Mercantile is an eclectic consignment store with great deals on amazing merchandise. They consign softly used furniture, antiques, mountain and western style home décor, gifts and collectibles, house wares, and local art. The business was purchased by Carla Dornsbach and Cora Wilson this summer and re-opened on August 16. They offer day-to-day items people need like furniture and household goods, and one-of-a-kind items you can’t easily find elsewhere. If you like shabby chic, you will find things that you’ll enjoy here. New consignments are arriving all the time and the store is different every time you visit. If people don’t buy the things they like when they first see them, they will suffer from “Not Buyer’s Remorse” because it will probably be gone later. “You never know what you’re going to find,” said Dornsbach, who encourages people to stop by the store to browse and chat. “Come on in and see what you can’t live without! We want to make great deals for both sellers and buyers while connecting the community.” Consigned items come into the store from all over the state, including Denver, Colorado Springs, and Canyon City, and from right here in Teller County. Some of the treasures you can find now include a 1920s mahogany Horrock desk, a 1947 antique dresser with mirror, a 1930s Underwood typewriter, a couple of antique sleds, and a beautiful assortment of cowboy boots. Divide Mercantile keeps a list of potential buyers and sellers and tries to match them, so let them know what you are looking for even if you don’t see it in the store right now. If you have large items to consign, they may be able to help you sell them with pictures even if they don’t have room in the store today. At present, they are looking for gently used recliners, chests of drawers, and bookcases to consign. If you have things you’d like to sell through the store, please call them first to see what they can take right now. Experience with what people are looking for and space in the store dictate what items they can and cannot accept for consignment. For the eco-friendly shopper, buying and selling on consignment is a great way to go green. You can recycle and repurpose classic merchandise rather than consuming new resources or sending items that are still serviceable but no longer wanted to a land fill. And shopping locally saves fuel and time while supporting our community. Divide Mercantile is located between Divide Venture Foods and McGinty’s at the corner of US 24 and CO 67 in Divide. They are open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and on Sunday from 12 to 5 PM. You can also contact them at (719) 687-6654, DivideMercantile@yahoo.com, or look for Divide Mercantile Consignments on Facebook.
