Guest Editorial: The GOP Precinct Caucus Offers a Rare Grassroots Opportunity to Get Involved

Kellie Case, Chair, Teller County Republicans

On Tuesday, March 3rd, registered Republicans across Teller County will gather for one of the most important—and uniquely Colorado—traditions in our political process: the Precinct Caucus.

I want to personally invite every registered Republican in Teller County to participate. Our caucus is where grassroots democracy truly begins. It is not a spectator event. It is not something decided by political insiders. It is where neighbors meet neighbors, discuss the future of our county, state, and nation, and elect delegates who will help nominate Republican candidates for county, state, and federal offices.

If you have never attended a caucus before, this is your opportunity. If you have attended in the past, you already understand how meaningful it is to take part in shaping our party’s direction from the ground up. Colorado’s caucus and assembly system is a time-tested grassroots process.

Unlike a simple primary ballot where choices are already narrowed, caucus allows Republicans to evaluate potential candidates early, ask questions, hear from campaigns, and select delegates who best represent the values of their precinct. Those delegates move forward to county and state assemblies, where candidates are placed on the primary ballot.

In other words, caucus is the foundation of the nomination process. The strength of the Republican Party has always been rooted in engaged citizens—men and women willing to give their time, lend their voices, and stand up for the principles of limited government, individual liberty, fiscal responsibility, and constitutional freedoms.

The caucus system ensures that everyday Republicans—not political elites—have a direct voice in who carries our banner forward. Participation matters. The delegates chosen on March 3rd will help determine which candidates advance to represent us in critical races that affect our taxes, our public safety, our energy policy, and our freedoms. County offices, state legislators, members of Congress—these nominations begin at the precinct level. Pre-registration is quick and easy at Colorado Republican Caucus Locator & Pre-Registration.

I strongly encourage everyone to sign up in advance to streamline the process and ensure your participation. This is your party. This is your voice. This is your opportunity to influence the future of Teller County, Colorado, and our nation. Grassroots involvement is not just a slogan—it is the backbone of the Republican Party. When we show up, we shape the outcome. When we participate, we strengthen our movement. And when we engage at the local level, we build momentum that carries all the way to the highest offices in the land. I look forward to seeing Republicans from every precinct on Tuesday, March 3rd. Let’s come together, exercise our rights, and continue the proud tradition of citizen-led leadership in Colorado. Join us. Participate. Lead.
