Yoga. Community yoga classes are scheduled at the Church in the Wildwood on Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. and another class is slated for Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. These popular classes are led by Beth Knox and Lainie Thomas.
American Red Cross Baby Sitter Boot Camp. Sponsored by the city of Woodland Park, our full-day Babysitter Boot Camp on November 25 from 8 AM – 5 PM gives youth ages 11–17 the skills to care for children and infants, make smart decisions, and be great role models. Wednesday, Nov. 26
Wellness Walk. Scheduled for Nov. 26 at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the upper level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises are available to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission.
Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Scheduled at the Aspen Mine Center East building in Cripple Creek on Nov. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This has turned into one of the biggest community-gatherings, prior to the Christmas season. A genuine pre-Thanksgiving feast is provided due to the help of many volunteers. This event is for community building, connection support and service. At the dinner we take time to come together as a community to prepare and serve Thanksgiving meals for those in need. Volunteers can bring food including turkeys and sides, serve and drive meals for those who cannot get to the AMC east building. For more information, call the Aspen Mine Center at 719-689-3584.
Thursday, Nov. 27
Happy Thanksgiving from TMJ News. A variety of local choices are available if you and your family are looking for a place to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast without worrying about the usual cooking and serving hassles, or a place to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with many other folks in the community. A few eateries in the area, along with several casinos in Cripple Creek, are offering Thanksgiving meals. Plus, a variety of choices are available for meals to share in more of a potluck style, with of course, ample turkey. See related story in TMJ Dining Section.
Government closings. All government offices in Teller County and surrounding areas will be closed for business on both Nov. 27 and Nov. 28.
Friday, Nov. 28
Irving Berlin’s White Christmas Kick-off Performance. This will mark the Butte Theater’s acclaimed Christmas show, which debuts on Nov. 28 and continues through the holiday season. Based on the beloved movie of the same name! Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters in route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the perennial title song, White Christmas is an uplifting, wholesome musical that will delight audiences of all ages. Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. This popular event in Cripple Creek will be held Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. at Pocket Park on Bennett Ave, right next to city hall. Gather with neighbors and friends as we light the community Christmas tree and kick off the holiday season. The evening features the following: Santa’s visit for photos and seasonal cheer; Festive drinks for kids and adults; Carolers spreading classic holiday melodies; Cozy fire pits to keep warm; S’mores and tasty treats and more festive surprises. Live Music concerts. Upcoming live music concerts at the Chamonix Casino Hotel in Cripple Creek for the next month include the Wallen & Wilson Tribute on November 29, The Malpass Brothers on December 13, and Collective Groove on December 20. NFL Football Action. It’s back to work for the 9-2 playoff and maybe Super Bowl-bound Denver Broncos, who are still relishing their thrilling victory over the KC Chiefs two weeks ago and are poised to with their first division title in 10 years. The Broncs are back in action, following their bye-week. They are scheduled to play the Washington Commanders on prime time this evening, with game time set for 6:20 in lovely D.C. Great time to take in the action at your favorite local sports bar or eatery. But if you aren’t crazy about Sunday night ball, plenty of good games are slated during the afternoon for Week 13. WP City Council Candidate Open House. The next municipal election is coming up in April 2026, and the city of Woodland Park is already preparing for this election. Have YOU ever considered running for City Council? Mark your calendar for the City Council Candidacy Information Session on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. This opportunity is open to anyone considering a run for City Council in 2026, as well as to those who are casually curious and seeking additional support and information. Attendees will have ample opportunities to connect with city staff, current council members, and community leaders to ask important questions, discuss the election process, and receive helpful feedback. This is your chance to get all the details you need to throw your hat into the ring next spring You can run if you are at least 18 years of age; are a city of Woodland Park resident for at least two years and a U.S. citizen (for at least one year).
Winter Day in the Park. The Holiday Season is fast approaching! Winter Day in the Park is back again for another year of joy-filled fun! Join the Woodland Park Parks and Recreation staff at Memorial Park on Friday, December 5 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. for festive activities featuring such activities as the following: A Petting Zoo, Elf Scramble, Storytime with Council, Visit with Santa, Official City tree lighting, and much more. Community members of all ages are invited to join this happening holiday event to ring in the season! Hot chocolate, adult beverages, and light refreshments will be available. Gold Camp Christmas Festivities. Scheduled for Dec. 13 and featuring a full day of Yuletide activities in Cripple Creek, highlighted by a grand parade down Bennett Avenue, a craft fair, and many events at the Aspen Mine Center.
