Alright, it’s now time for possibly the premiere game of the NFL season: Broncos versus the Chiefs, right here in the Mile High City.
If you have a choice of one game for the year, this is the one to view at your favorite local sports bar, watering hole, eatery, friend or enemy’s house. Leave your weapons at home, as no scalping, shooting, stabbing or whatever is permitted; and definitely no playing of Taylor Swift songs, which could land you in the Broncos’ newly designated game time jail. Game time is Sunday at 2:25, perfect time for a beverage of choice and a hearty meal, as you will need the nourishment.
As we venture into Week 11, playoff fever is brewing, but the Broncos need a good showing against the Chiefs to further advance their playoff cause, and to put blinders on the past history of this great rivalry. The Broncos and Chiefs have squared off 130 times, with the Chiefs getting the advantage by a 73-57 margin. But the last time these teams played, the Broncos won by a 38-0 massacre in early January 2025, in a meaningless game, with the Chiefs not using their starters.
This rivalry is peppered by winning streaks, with the Chiefs winning 15 straight, following the retirement of former star quarterback Payton Manning, and the Broncos winning a whole bunch in the late 1970s. In the last few years, the Broncos have regained their footing and provided some definite obstacles for Chiefs quarterback superstar Patrick Mahomes,
For this year, Trevor Phipps, Jessica of Jess’ Place, and the Las Vegas odd-makers have the Chiefs as the pre-game favorites. Boo! Let’s prove them all wrong and have them eating their words and cheering on Bo Nix and the assassin-level defense of the Broncos.
In all seriousness, both teams have probably the most enthusiastic and passionate fan bases in our local football-crazed area.
If you are looking for a great place to enjoy the Broncos game and all the NFL slug matches, head to McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub in Divide, the sponsor of our fine NFL Page and Broncos’ preview. McGinty’s, with their sports bar setup, offers a prime opportunity to view nearly all of the NFL games and partake in some great game food and drink specials. McGinty’s also sports a loyal group of Bronco fans and some enthusiastic cynics too
Another great NFL watching spot is Jess’ Place in Woodland Park, the Chief headquarters in Colorado, with a rather vocal crowd of football fans. Cheering for any other team that the Chiefs there could amount to bodily injury.
And if you want to check out some other top games, TMJ would like to suggest the Lions and Eagles match-up on Sunday night, or the Steelers and Bengals for the early Sunday game.
Enjoy Week 11.
