Mountain Almanac for the Week of November 4

Tuesday, Nov. 4

Yoga. Community yoga classes are scheduled at the Church in the Wildwood on Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. and another class is slated for Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.  These popular classes are led by Beth Knox and Lainie Thomas.

Election 2025 Ballot Deadline. The deadline for returning ballots for Election 2025 is  Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. The election features key elections for local municipalities and school districts during which many elected seats will be determined. Also, voters cast tallies on a number of significant ballot issues. Ballots were mailed out to registered voters in Teller County, starting on Oct. 10. A number of 24/7 ballot box return stations will be available, along with availability for designated voting centers for those who wish to cast their ballots in-person. Whatever choice you decide on, make sure you vote.

The Green Mountain Falls Board of Trustees meet on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in the GMF Town Hall. The meeting is available in-person, or online, via the town’s website.

Wednesday, Nov. 5

Wellness Walk. Scheduled for Oct. 29 at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the upper level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises are available to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission.

The Cripple Creek City Council will meet on Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the CC Council Chambers. The meeting is available in-person or on Zoom.

Thursday, Nov. 6

TOPS. Takes Off Pounds Sensibly.  Meets every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in the Church in the Wildwood (10585 Ute Pass Ave.) Green Mountain Falls, CO 80819. Affordable, effective weight-loss.

The Woodland Park City Council will meet on Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the WP Council Chambers, next to city hall. The meeting is available in-person or on Zoom.

Broncos Football. The Denver Broncos will host the Las Vegas Raiders in a Thursday Night Special, as Week 10 of the 2025 NFL season kicks off with a fury.  Nothing quite like the old Raider/Bronco rivalries. And now of course, every game is critical for the Broncs, who are making a bid for their first AFC Division Title since 2016. Game time is 6:15 p.m. You can check the game out in your favorite, local sports bar.

Saturday, Nov. 8

Celebration of Life for Tracy McGinty (the well-known former owner and proprietor of McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub.) Raise a pint with us in honor of Tracy McGinty — a life full of laughter, love, and community. We’ll gather on Saturday, November 8th at Paradox Beer Company in Divide, CO, from 12–5 PM to celebrate her legacy and the joy she brought to all of us. Sunday, Nov. 9

NFL Football Action.  Although you can’t view the Broncos on Sunday (they are scheduled to play earlier in the week on Thursday), plenty of great NFL slug matches are available, a number of which have big playoff implications. So, if you don’t have any outdoor plans, make sure to head to McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub, Jess’ Place, the Blue Moose, Russ,’ the District Saloon, The Creek and more.

Upcoming

Cup of Christmas Tea. Scheduled for Nov. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the Community of Caring/Aspen Mine Center. At this event an individual or group hosts a table for 6-8 guests. The host is responsible for inviting friends, decorating the table and bringing food for their guests. The Community of Caring/Aspen Mine Center provides tea and drinks. There will be drawings for door prizes and entertainment. Tickets are 15.00/person. Teller County Assessor Talk. Join us for an Assessor’s Meeting focused on agricultural classification in Teller County, featuring updates from both
the Assessor’s Office and Teller County Realtors! This informational gathering, which is completely free, is scheduled for Nov. 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ute Pass Cultural Center. For more information, call Debbie Miller at 719-687-9885.

Chamber Business After Hours is Teller County’s largest networking event. Take advantage of this opportunity to network and catch up with your friends, clients and customers plus meet new members in an informal setting.  Business After Hours is a great way to share information about your business and learn about other members. Community Concert. The Ute Pass Cultural Center hosts a FREE Community Concert every 2nd Wednesday of the month. The next concert is scheduled for Nov. 12 and it features Pippa’s Fling. This band has been playing vintage, modern jazz across the Front Range since 2010. Founded by Woodland Park residents and professional musicians, pianist Mark Bovee and vocalist Christi Bovee, along with their drummer, Brian Hobson, and upright bass player, Andy Burtschi, Pippa’s Fling plays music that is sure to get your feet dancing. Their set lists include favorite jazz standards of yesteryear, as well as their own modern compositions performed with a vintage twist. Woodies Bar will be open and a Food Truck will be available for some delicious food. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. in the main floor of the Cultural Center, and the concert will occur from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, visit the city’s website.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner.  Scheduled at the Aspen Mine Center East building in Cripple Creek on Nov. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This has turned into one of the biggest community-gatherings, prior to the Christmas season.  A genuine pre-Thanksgiving feast is provide due to the help of many volunteers.  This event is for community building, connection support and service. At the dinner we take time to come together as a community to prepare and serve Thanksgiving meals for those in need. Volunteers can bring food including turkeys and sides, serve and drive meals for those who cannot get to the AMC east building.
