Seven local artists take center stage as new indoor and outdoor exhibits bring more of Woodland Park’s creative talent into the public eye.
The Woodland Park Art Gallery is expanding its presence in the community with a new indoor exhibition space and a public mural project showcasing seven local artists.
The expansion will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Tava House, where the public can view seven original murals and explore the gallery’s new location and exhibition. The free event will also include an artist meet-and-greet and a Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting.
Seven Local Artists Bring Woodland Park’s Outdoor Gallery to Life
A large concrete wall west side of the restaurant has been transformed into an outdoor gallery featuring original works by Lois Sprague, Alexander Sorrels, Gayle Gross, Elizabeth Lutz, Danielle Stuut, Julie Cutting and Alex Smith.
Each artist contributed a unique perspective, with murals depicting Colorado aspens, wildlife, Western-inspired scenes and contemporary celestial artwork. Additional artwork is displayed near the Taproom entrance.
The project is designed to evolve annually, with a new group of artists invited to create a fresh collection each year. Future unveilings are expected in all formats, providing an ongoing opportunity for regional artists to gain exposure.
“This wall will never be just about Tava House,” said Derek Waggoner, Chief Executive Officer of Tava House Properties. “It is about giving local artists a highly visible canvas and giving our community something new to experience, photograph, share and talk about.”
Participating artists will also receive recognition throughout the year through biographies, photography, social media features and community events.
Woodland Park Art Gallery Expands
The unveiling also celebrates the expansion of the Woodland Park Art Gallery into a local chill spot called Tava, creating another location where residents and visitors can discover artwork by area artists.
The expansion supports the vision of Gayle Gross, local artist and owner of Reserve Our Gallery, to make original artwork more accessible by bringing it into businesses and public gathering spaces throughout Woodland Park.
Gross has long supported opportunities for local artists, including her work with Woodland Park’s Eichman Gallery. The Mountain Jackpot previously reported on her appointment to manage the Eichman Gallery at Park State Bank & Trust.
“Art has an incredible ability to bring people together, and that is what makes this expansion into Tava House so exciting,” Gross said. “[This] gives us another opportunity to put local art where people already gather, celebrate and connect.”
Together, the rotating outdoor murals and indoor gallery support a broader goal of transforming Woodland Park into a communitywide arts destination while giving established and emerging artists greater visibility.
That effort builds on other local arts initiatives, including the Peak Art Adventure events previously covered by The Mountain Jackpot, which have brought artists and art enthusiasts together throughout the Pikes Peak region.
Chamber Ribbon Cutting and Community Celebration
The October 17 celebration will also include a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Debbie Miller, IOM, president of the Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce, recognizing this exciting unveiling.
Miller praised the collaboration between local businesses and artists as an example of how community partnerships contribute to Woodland Park’s cultural vitality.
Following the ceremonies, visitors can meet the participating artists, view their work and mingle to discover what the future has in store for each outstanding artist.
