Many locals and tourists have inquired about the small building in Divide, located at the Hwy. 24 and Hwy. 67 intersection, especially with the hefty slew of customers frequenting the site on a regular basis.
The steady stream of customers is due to the Home of Margaret’s Munchies and its growing reputation for consistently serving quality meals and snacks and enticing treats. Often considered Teller County’s best-kept culinary secret, the eatery is now commanding wider attention.
The location of the eatery is prime for those heading out west from Divide into the mountains or those coming back into the city. The building is small and seating is limited, but Home of Margaret’s Munchies has become a prime spot for travelers to stop and grab a drink or a bite to eat for the road.
Every time anyone walks into Margaret’s Munchies, their mouths will instantly start to water. On most days, visitors will see racks filled with freshly cooked pastries.
Sometimes, the racks and display cabinets will be filled with freshly baked Danishes. Customers have the option to choose from flavors like apple and cherry cream.
The owner and baker, Margaret Burrous, is constantly coming up with new ideas for baked items. But even though her baked pastries might receive the majority attention, the eatery also offers other delicious items.
For breakfast, many love the giant breakfast burritos Margaret’s has available. For lunch, many like to munch on a yak burger made from freshly sourced meat in Divide.
The eatery/bakery can also produce custom-made items. The restaurant’s Facebook page recently posted a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting that looked especially delicious. To go along with a yummy pastry, customers can also enjoy a fresh cup of Joe or a slew of other refreshing drinks.
Burrous said that business has been bustling, but she has experienced some trouble keeping up with her high demand. She is currently short-handed and is in the need of one or two full-time employees. (See related employment ad in this week’s TMJ).
Burrous’ specialty is crafting delicious meals and baked items, but she needs more help to perform this task. Burrous said she is looking for one or two people that can help customers, so that she can stay in the kitchen more creating masterpieces.
She wants employees who can offer the warm and welcoming atmosphere the Home of Margaret’s Munchies has provided since its inception. Those interested in the job opportunity should go to the eatery and fill out an application.
