New WP High School Principal Set to Assume Duties
Woodland Park RE-2 District Administration
The Woodland Park RE-2 School District recently named Katie Rexford as the next principal of the Woodland Park Jr./Sr. High School.
Rexford will assume this role on July 1. Rexford currently serves as principal of Summit Elementary School, a position she has held since 2013.
During her tenure, Summit Elementary was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School, one of four schools in Colorado to receive the designation during that recognition cycle, as well as a National Title I Distinguished School. The school also received the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award twice.
Rexford boasts more than 20 years of experience in education, including leadership roles at both the elementary and secondary levels. Before joining Woodland Park School District, she served as assistant principal at Liberty High School in Academy School District 20 from 2009 to 2013. She also taught high school mathematics in Academy District 20 from 2005 to 2009.
Throughout her career, Rexford has focused on supporting student achievement and creating learning environments that meet the needs of all students. She is also known for building strong relationships with staff and fostering a collaborative and supportive school culture.
Rexford earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics from Canisius College in New York and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix. She also holds a Colorado professional principal license for grades K-12.
