Popular Television Series to Start Filming in Florissant This Month

New Yellowstone Spin-Off Plans to Film a Portion of Episodes Inside Teller County

By Travis Philps

After years of being left out of the loop when it comes to fame and major events, the small town of Florissant in western Teller County will soon get a taste of Hollywood. Usually, the town only makes news headlines when something strange or tragic occurs.

But now, residents of the small town have a chance to change their reputation. The filming will even allegedly include a scene inside the town’s small bar called the Thunderhead Inn.

The announcement came out after the chief executives of Yellowstone submitted a press release with their plans this summer. The release stated that producers started eying the region after seeing several award-winning films getting produced in the area.

The press release referred to the two popular documentaries that highlighted historic ranches and the railroad that ran through the area. After seeing the movies win one of the many film festivals they competed in, Yellowstone executives started eyeing the region.

“We were searching for a small mountain town with a redneck twist,” TV series creator Tyler Sheridale said in the press release. “We looked at Woodland Park, Cripple Creek and even Green Mountain Falls, but those towns just weren’t weird enough.”

The new spinoff will follow the story of one of the TV series’ characters after the events of the namesake series unfolded. However, executives remain tight-lipped on any specifics about the series.

In fact, according to the press release, about 60 percent of the series will be filmed in parts of Oklahoma. The chief executives of the show though were at first not eyeing Colorado due to the fact that the state misses the buck on offering financial incentives for movies and TV series to be filmed within the state.

Hollywood Actors and Film Crews Should Stimulate Local Economy

Before the head honchos at the studio started looking into Teller County, they first contacted the region’s Official Film Commission (OFC) who is headed by popular podcast host Charles Chammers. Once Chammers started showing them around, he was able to get them to sign a filming contract.

“The chief executives reached out to me and said that they were looking for a mountain town with creepy vibes,” Chammers said. “Once they told me they wanted an area with a lot of weirdos to act as extras, I knew Florissant would be the best place.”

Chammers went on to say that he has seen a sneak peek at the script. He wouldn’t say much, but he promised that the one scene inside the Florissant bar would be action-packed.

“The one seen as I am told will feature a completely brutal bar fight,” Chammers said. “Expect to see bottles broken over heads while others engage in a classic Wild West shootout Teller County-style!”

The film commission boss also said that the production will bring a ton of business to the local economy. “With all of the limousines and around a dozen semi-trucks coming in and out of town everyday through the summer, local businesses will all be packed all of the time,” Chammers boasted. “Expect to see long delays in traffic and long waits to do just about anything in the county during filming which will take place from June to September.”

Happy April Fools Day!
