It’s onto Round Two in the NFL Playoff Craze. And better yet, we are still in the chase for the elusive Super Bowl 60 title.
On the upside, it’s Home Sweet Home for the Denver Broncos, as we try to relive the old John Elway and Peyton Manning glory years of playoff gold this weekend. On the downside, unless the offense ends its three-game slump, like immediately, THE PARTY IS OVER. Again, the national media is treating the Broncos with no respect, and designating us as permanent playoff underdogs, or the worst 14-3 team to ever stalk the football planet. As quarterback Bo Nix said jokingly about a month ago, “We are not Underdogs, We are Overdogs.”
Due to print deadlines, we couldn’t quite give you the most updated information, such as the definite opponent of the Broncs for the Division Championship showdown.
Statistically, the Broncos should have a certain advantage in the upcoming Division matchup. A Number One Seed is a big deal; and better yet, the Broncs have a 12th player, with the Denver crowds. Empower Field at Mile High is rated as one of the toughest environments for an opposing team. With the Number One Seed comes home field advantage in the playoffs, until the Super Bowl
When it comes to the overall playoffs, the Broncos have netted more appearances in post-season play than any other team. The Broncos’ playoff record amounts to 23 wins and 20 losses in 43 games, including 3 Super Bowl victories and 8 appearances in the world championship shoot-out. Impressive, but our recent playoff record for the last 10 years is terrible, with zilch victories.
And when it comes to Number One Seed comparisons, six out of the last eight previous times the Broncos were the Number One Seed, they made it to the Big Game.
However, let’s not get too hung up on statistics. Eight teams will duke it out this weekend to determine the lineup for the FINAL FOUR, scheduled for Jan. 25. Meanwhile, Super Bowl 60 will be held on Feb. 8 in California.
But save yourself a trip to California and a price tag of $20,000 for a lousy seat.
