NFL Watching Tips for Week 9

Brought to you by McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub

It’s onto Week 9 in the mighty NFL, as the Denver Broncos inch their way towards a playoff spot and possibly an AFC West crown.  Memories of the Super Bowl season of 2016 are sizzling hot these days.

But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, as offensive consistency is still the big wild card with the Broncs. But we at TMJ News are part of the “Let Bo (Nix, Broncos quarterback) Be Bo” campaign, and don’t hamper our sophomore quarterback with lackadaisical, boring play calling. Got that Sean (Payton, head skipper of the Broncos).

The Broncs travel to Houston, Texas this week and face off with the Texans on Nov. 2, marking the second consecutive week they have competed against a Texas-based team. Lucky us. The Broncos are undoubtably probably getting weary of the Texan, obnoxious style of brash confidence and colorful trash talk.  But remember there Cocky Texans, “Remember the Alamo.”  Despite what may be in your Texas history books, you lost the acclaimed 1836 battle, even with David Crockett on your side.

These teams haven’t contended that much in the past, as the Texans are a fairly new institution in the NFL, only starting in 2002. They reign as the youngest expansion team in the NFL.   These teams have played a total of 10 times with the Broncs leading the series 6-4. However, the last outing these two teams had in 2023, didn’t go well for the Broncs, with Denver suffering a whopping 22-7 loss.

But 2023 was our big Russell Wilson and Nathanial Hackett experimental seasons. Enough said on that dismal subject.

Game time this Sunday is 11 a.m. sharp, perfect occasion for a beverage of choice and hearty lunch at your favorite local sports bar, eatery or area hangout.  Just cheer the Broncos on, as playoff fever is definitely brewing. Following this game, the Broncos have key league match-ups with the Raiders and Chiefs.

If you are looking for a great place to enjoy the Broncos game and all the NFL slug matches, head to McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub in Divide, the sponsor of our fine NFL Page and Broncos’ preview. McGinty’s, with their sports bar setup, offers a prime opportunity to view nearly all of the NFL games and partake in some great game food and drink specials.  McGinty’s also sports a loyal group of Bronco fans and some enthusiastic cynics too

Another great NFL watching spot is Jess’ Place in Woodland Park, with a rather vocal crowd of football fans.

And if Broncos football is not your thing, don’t sweat it. Plenty of other great games are in store. For this week, we highly recommend the Steelers versus the Colts, also kicking off at 11 a.m. Then in the early afternoon, it’s a replay of the AFC championship contest with the Chiefs versus the Bills in the friendly abode of Buffalo, New York.  This one has big playoff implications for the Broncos.

Enjoy Week 9.
