NFL Watching Tips for Week 8

“Just win baby, win.”  Al Davis, former owner of the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders

Talk about a compromising position thrust upon all Denver Broncos’ fans.  We are now forced to use this acclaimed phrase from the late Al Davis, commonly known as “Uncle Al,” the ultimate Raider King, or ruler of the Dark Side of humanity, in describing certain victories of the Denver Broncos this year.  Uncle Al wasn’t too well regarded by the Broncos’ head staff, especially by former team skipper Mike Shanahan.  But this statement, originally reportedly made by Al, in a bizarre press conference and team celebration during the Raiders triumphant Super Bowl victory over the then Washington Redskin in 1984, has almost become an organizational motto these days for the Broncs.

Ugly wins, or not, the Broncos are vying for the illustrious AFC Division West title and can’t complain too much, “Just Win, Baby.”  This Sunday, they face a mighty opponent, as they host the Dallas Cowboys, dubbed as the “Dallas Cryboys” in some quarters, or America’s team.  Although they haven’t faced each other too many times, with the last match-up occurring in 2021, the Broncos/Cowboys matchup always come during key times for both teams.

Game time is 2:25 at Empower Field.  Perfect time for a beverage of choice or hearty snack at your favorite local watering hole or acclaimed sports bar.

This one should be a thriller. People in our fine abode either love the Cowboys or hate them.  The contest will feature one of the best NFL offensive attacks versus a super-aggressive defense. If Broncos linebacker Nik Bonitto and company and company keep up their ruthless assault, it won’t make any difference what quarterback Bo Nix does.

If you are looking for a great place to enjoy the Broncos game and all the NFL slug matches, head to McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub in Divide, the sponsor of our fine NFL Page and Broncos’ preview. McGinty’s, with their sports bar setup, offers a prime opportunity to view nearly all of the NFL games and partake in some great game food and drink specials.  McGinty’s also sports a loyal group of Bronco fans and some enthusiastic cynics too

Another great NFL watching spot is Jess’ Place in Woodland Park, with a rather vocal crowd of football fans.

And if Broncos football is not your thing, don’t sweat it. Plenty of other great games are in store, such as the Packer versus the Steelers or the Giants/Eagles showdown.

Week 8 is when the preliminary playoff picture starts to get unveiled.

Enjoy Week 8.
