NFL Watching Tips for Week 6

Brought to you by McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub

London is calling and the Denver Broncos are responding in a real business-like fashion.

Sunday is London football time, with a 7:30 a.m. wakeup call for us Mountain folks, as the Denver Broncos take on the New York Jets.  This should be a sure win, unless Denver gets accosted by European Ryder Cup fans, who may mistake Bronco players for New York City scumbags from the recent golf war (see related story).

The Oct. 12 game is part of the NFL’s effort, in their so-called marketing wisdom, to extend more into international markets.  Unfortunately, we often end up as the real losers of this effort and get clobbered with games that start at sunrise.

Well, so much for NFL politics.  This is a key game, and we expect a Bronco win, but in the NFL these days with so much team parity, there is no such thing as a sure victory.

Our hope is the Broncs will retain their form from their massacre of the Cincy Bengals. We didn’t receive any stats, prior to press time, to adequately report on the Eagles game. But we see this “Across the Pond “contest falling more in line with what the Broncos dealt with in their outing with the Bengals.  From a historic perspective, the Broncos have fared great against mediocre teams.

Besides the Broncos, the NFL this weekend sports some great contests, such as the Steelers against the Browns, shortly after the Broncs’ London game. Probably the premiere game this weekend is the Chiefs versus the Lions on Sunday night. Let’s go Lions, as maybe Detroit will muddy the waters for Patrick Mahomes and company.

If you are looking for a great place to enjoy this weekend’s NFL slug matches, head to McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub in Divide, the sponsor of our fine NFL Page and Broncos’ preview. McGinty’s, with their sports bar setup, offers a prime opportunity to view nearly all of the NFL games and partake in some great game food and drink specials.  McGinty’s also sports a loyal group of Bronco fans and some enthusiastic cynics too

Another great NFL watching spot is Jess’ Place in Woodland Park, with a rather vocal crowd of football fans. Jess’ should be a prime spot for Sunday night’s game. Dare you to go there and root against the  Chiefs.

Regardless, our fine abode abounds with great spots for Bronco viewing and places to cheer away for great NFL action.

Enjoy Week 6.
