Broncos Cross The Pond; Face Off With The Jets

Chiefs Battle The Stellar Lions; Chargers Swim with the Dolphins

Trevor Phipps

The Broncos thrilled their fans everywhere during Week 4 when they finally put a beating down on an opponent. However, despite the hype given by local sports talkers, we all saw what happens when they play good teams.

The Bengals probably had a chance at being good this season until they lost their star QB Joe Burrows to an injury, and was reported to be out of action for at least several months. As a result, the Bengals allowed the Broncos to pummel them.

But I am not quite ready to jump on the Broncos’ Super Bowl bandwagon just yet. I seriously feel like they have carried a 0-7 record against winning teams’ deficit into this season.

But at least they can stomp bad teams, right? I think this season could easily turn into a rinse and repeat of last year during which the Broncos looked good on paper, but then struggled to win when it really counted.

Denver Broncos at New York Jets (in London, England), Sunday 7:30 a.m.

But the good news for Broncos fans is that this week should be another one where we can all talk about how awesome our team is after beating a team that would lose to most college (or high school) football teams. Before the season started, I thought the New York Jets had a chance at being something great after they bailed on old man QB Aaron Rodgers and went with Justin Fields. But, obviously I was wrong.

The Jets have not turned things around ,and they just don’t look like they are going to. Nobody has been surprised with their 0-4 start. And, nobody has high expectations for them as the season wears on.

The Broncos have the ultimate opportunity to gain some confidence by murdering another bad team this week. But, we need to take the wins as we can get them because the Broncos’ schedule gets a lot harder as the season wears on.

Trevor’s Pick: Denver Broncos 34, New York Jets 19

Vegas Line: Broncos by 6.5.

Detroit Lions at Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday 6:20 p.m.

The Chiefs have definitely turned things around and look like they could once again be Super Bowl-worthy. Their big win over the Baltimore Ravens in week 4 shocked the world when they threw the Ravens into a 1-3 start.

The Chiefs are starting to get into their element and look like the team we all remember over the past few years. However, this week will be a huge challenge for them.

The Detroit Lions have been flirting with their first Super Bowl for the past two seasons. The team looks good all year long but then has trouble when it comes to the playoffs.

However, I think this week will be the Lions’ chance to shine. I think Detroit’s offense and defense will be able to exploit all of the Chiefs’ weaknesses. But it should be a close game.

Trevor’s Pick: Detroit Lions 38, Kansas City Chiefs 34

Vegas Line: Chiefs by 3.

Los Angeles Chargers at Miami Dolphins, Sunday 11 a.m.

Just when I thought the Chargers could be something special this year, they disappoint me with a big loss against the NY Giants in Week 4. This team had some glory and bragging rights after going 3-0 against all division rival teams.

But then the reality of the NFL set in. In fact, anyone one can lose to another team no matter what their record may be. The Chargers loss to the Giants in Week 4 was probably a good learning lesson for them.

However, I feel it is unwise to count them out completely. They still look like a stellar team and they will be tough to beat going forward.

This week, the Chargers take on a struggling and dismantled Dolphins team that is lucky to have one win this season. I highly doubt Miami will be able to out match the Chargers this week.

Trevor’s Pick: Los Angeles Chargers 31, Miami Dolphins 13

Vegas Line: Chargers by 1.5.

Tennessee Titans at Las Vegas Raiders, Sunday 2:05 p.m.

At one point in time, I thought the Raiders would make a 180 this season and become a reckoning force. However, we just haven’t seen it yet.

Their sole win this season came against the Patriots in week one. We have all seen what New England has done since.

The Raiders have though, played some teams very well. I still feel like they have great potential and this week we might see it.

The Titans have struggled to pick up “W’s this year and they have made poor teams look good. I don’t think the Titans will pull this one off with a Raiders team that is bound to improve at some point.

Trevor’s Pick: Las Vegas Raiders 24, Tennessee Titans 20

Vegas Line: Raiders by 3.
