Enjoy WOC’s Fall Season Splendor of Creekside Dining

Rick Langenberg

The beginning of October marks a prime occasion for the final glimpses of rare leaf-changing views, outdoor dining in the Ute Pass high country and a chance to indulge in great cuisine and Colorado spirits on a sunny afternoon, at the doorstep of a natural wonder.

And probably no setting can compete with this combination locally like the Wines of Colorado (WOC) in Cascade. With two levels of outdoor deck splendor and unprecedented Creekside dining, there are outdoor decks, and then real OUTDOOR DECKS. WOC definitely clears the deck in snagging this latter title.

Moreover, the fall season is probably the best time for locals and area residents to enjoy this outdoor dining opportunity, prior to winter, while escaping the normal, summer tourist crowds.

Still, even if less folks make the trek to Cascade and America’s mountain, reservations are recommended for outdoor dining at WOC. Call 719-684-0900 or visit WOC online.

And with the official end of the tourist season approaching, WOC will be back on stride with its acclaimed special meals and events.  The Thursday “Steak Night” is quite a sensation as diners have the opportunity to sample such prizes as a 14 ounce, “Handcut Chargrilled Ribeye,” topped with Herb Butter and served with Gauda Mashed Potatoes and Garlic Sauteed Vegetables, often specially prepared by owner Arin DeMay.  If Arin is around, you definitely don’t want to miss one of his colorful stories regarding his saga in assuming the ownership reins of WOC since taking a vacation to the area in 2021. Quite a story. Again, reservations are recommended for “Steak Night.”

And coming soon, WOC will be featuring again its Trivia nights, complete with special appetizers and overall good times in the award-winning bar and lounge area. The historic bar is rated as the best wine bar in the Pikes Peak region, according to frequent Best Of competitions in the area.

WOC also offers special, dishes and meals, such as Southern Crawfish or Shrimp Boil, or their Asiago and Basil Ravioli with Parmesan cream sauce. Check their Facebook page for what may be available.

WOC is also known for its Colorado-based beers, wines and spirit selections, with dozens of prime choices.

When it comes to their diverse selection of Colorado wines, a genre that the restaurant became known for since its inception, a good tip for new customers is the Wine Flights. This gives customers a good opportunity to try new wines. If you want specifics, Editor Rick highly recommends the Pino Noir, Colorado Cellars selection from Palisades. This choice meshes well with practically any entre, from salmon to chicken parmesan, to a wine burger.

Feel free to check with the staff and managers for suggestions.

WOC is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit winesofcolorado.com.
