Tuesday, Sept. 30

Yoga. Community yoga classes are scheduled at the Church in the Wildwood on Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. and another class is slated for Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.  These popular classes are led by Beth Knox and Lainie Thomas.

Wednesday, Oct. 1

Wellness Walk. Scheduled for Oct. 1 at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the upper level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises are available to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission.

Anniversary of Cripple Creek and Colorado Gaming. Join TMJ News in celebrating the 34th anniversary of limited stakes gaming, which officially started on Oct. 1, 1991. Check out our special collaborative edition, which outlines the history of gaming in Cripple Creek, the challenges and future prospects of the industry that changed the face of Cripple Creek and Teller County. Thursday, Oct. 2

TOPS. Takes Off Pounds Sensibly.  Meets every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in the Church in the Wildwood (10585 Ute Pass Ave.) Green Mountain Falls, CO 80819. Affordable, effective weight-loss.

The Woodland Park City Council will meet on Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the WP Council Chambers, next to city hall. The meeting is available in-person and on Zoom.

Friday, Oct. 3

Shining Mountain Summer Activities.  The Shining Mountain golf course in Woodland Park is still open as the 2025 links season winds to a conclusion. The course is in much improved condition from earlier this summer. The spacious bar is open for a variety of events and occasionally features live music.  The SM facility also is the host for Ute Pass Kiwanis Bingo nights. Drink specials are available and check with regular promotions online and in this newspaper.  More special events are now available. Several of the golf leagues still feature official play, and there is a slew of charity events. Friday Night Football.  Woodland Park Panthers football team play at home, as they host Banning Lewis Ranch Academy on Friday, Oct. 3. Game time is 7 p.m. Come out and support your local high school team.

Saturday, Oct. 4

Fall Fest. Cripple Creek’s annual Fall Fest is scheduled for Oct. 4 and Oct. 5 with a full day of events on both days. The festival is highlighted by historic sites, brilliant fall colors, the town’s infamous free-roaming donkeys that provide a one-of-a-kind backdrop for your leaf-peeping adventures. Comes savor live music, seasonal food and drinks, and festive activities like pumpkin carving, pie-eating contests and a fall photo booth.  Meet the beloved donkeys cared for the Two Mile High Club.  This event has been growing in popularity. Sunday, Oct. 5

NFL Football Action.  The 2025 NFL Season is in full force on Sunday, Oct. 5.  The Denver Broncos will travel to the City of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia) for a tussle against the defending Super  Bowl Champs, the Philadelphia Eagles. Game time is 11 a.m. for the Mountain time zone. Can the Broncos resurrect their season by pulling off the UPSET OF UPSETS. Monday, Oct. 6

Woodland Park RE-2 School Board Candidates Forum. Scheduled for Oct. 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ute Pass Cultural Center. This event is FREE and allows the electorate to hear from the candidates who are vying for the Woodland Park RE-2 School Board!  Know their platform before you CAST your ballot. Of all local elections this fall, the RE-2 school board races are among the most competitive, with six candidates seeking three seats. The forum is orchestrated by the Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber Business After Hours is Teller County’s largest networking event.  All Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce members are encouraged to attend.  Take advantage of this opportunity to network and catch up with your friends, clients and customers plus meet new members in an informal setting.  Business After Hours is a great way to share information about your business and learn about other members. Election 2025. The deadline for returning ballots for Election 2025 is  Nov. 4, 2025. The forthcoming election features key elections for local municipalities and school districts during which many elected seats will be determined. Also, voters cast tallies on a number of ballot issues. Ballots will be mailed out to registered voters in Teller County in mid-October. A number of 24/7 ballot box return stations will be available, along with availability for designated voting centers for those who wish to cast their ballots in-person. Whatever choice you decide on, make sure you vote.
