Woodland Park School Board Names Ginger Slocum Interim Superintendent

The Woodland Park School District Board of Education on Tuesday, August 6, unanimously appointed Ginger Slocum as interim superintendent, effective immediately.

Slocum currently serves as the district’s chief academic officer and will continue to guide the district’s academic work while assuming the interim superintendent role. She previously served as principal at Columbine Elementary School within the district.

This school year marks Slocum’s 29th year in education, with 12 years in leadership roles and seven years with Woodland Park School District.

The appointment is temporary while the board searches for a superintendent. The board has hired a search firm, Grundmeyer Leader Services, to assist in this process.

“We are confident in Ginger Slocum’s ability to lead the district through this important time,” Board President Mick Bates said. “Her experience and dedication to students, staff, and our community make her the right person to step into this role.”

The board also thanked Aaron Salt, who has served as interim superintendent since early 2025. Salt, who previously served as the district’s chief operations officer, took the position after the previous superintendent left during the second semester of the 2024-25 school year.

“Aaron Salt provided critical leadership during a time of transition and did so with professionalism and integrity,” Bates said. “We are grateful for his willingness to take on the responsibilities of interim superintendent and for the value he brought to our district.”
The district remains committed to ensuring a smooth leadership transition and continued
progress toward its strategic goals as the new school year begins.
