Joanie’s Deli & Bakery Offers Sandwiches and Views, Galore

If you are looking for a picture-perfect scenic spot for an award-winning, freshly crafted gourmet sandwich, salad or just about any mid-day treat, Joanie’s Deli and Bakery in downtown Woodland Park is The Spot.

Joanie’s, a unique culinary treasure for years, continues to dazzle locals and residents with its mammoth, home-made sandwiches, baked items and enticing pies and deserts.  The selections provided are amazing, running the gamut from a Smoked Salmon and French Quarter meal, to a more traditional Gourmet Club and Turkey Melt.  There is no shortage of selections with 20-plus lunch possibilities. Plus, Joanie’s offers Gluten free bread, Gluten free wraps, and vegan cheese available to customers, upon request. In fact, the experienced staff can make just about any adjustment you ask for regarding lunch favorites.

For early-morning goers, the deli also showcases, locally brewed java, and amazing breakfast treats (Try the scones). The breakfast tacos and burritos are also a big hit, according to locals.

Joanie’s has been heavily praised for their food items, winning Best Of designations in several local publications, including recently in The Mountain Jackpot News (TMJ) as the Best Lunch spot on the Mountain

Then, there are the trophy-level views. Probably no deli can offer lunch-goers a picture-perfect view of Pikes Peak. The outdoor patio is extremely popular, especially among customers who enjoy sharing a meal with their canine.  Joanie’s is known for its dog-friendly atmosphere and friendly staff.

More importantly, Joanie’s has maintained its successful history, even while featuring a variety of operators. The new owners, John Hugh and Cathy Olson, who took over the reins of the eatery last summer, have continued Joanie’s rich and unique traditions, while considering ways to expand their offerings. More take-out options may occur in the near future.  Dinners are offered on certain nights, with a select menu, and Joanie’s has a full bar set up.

The current owners actually fell in love with Joanie’s following a trip to the area, when they actually visited Joanie’s.  Both John and Cathy were instantly hooked.

Hugh spent several decades in the restaurant industry along the East Coast. The two credit their staff for some of the eatery’s amazing products.

As far as special favorites, TMJ highly recommends the Gourmet Club and the Oven Gold Turkey (with an additional topping of bacon). Only one problem, if you come with your favorite pet, he/she will demand a return visit.

Joanie’s is open every day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.  On their dinner nights, they offer additional meals from 4 to 6 p.m.
