The following was a press release submitted by the Woodland Park Police Department.
Just after 1 PM yesterday afternoon, we got a call to our Dispatch center about 9 year-old Audrey Martinez being missing from her home. Our officers responded to the area to try to locate her based on recent information we received from her mother who was the original caller. Search efforts continued during the day and several leads were chased without success. During our early interaction with Audrey’s neighbors, we came in contact with Ms. Christina Ann Guerrero (W/F- 06/21/1986). During our time in and around the apartment complex yesterday, we had several other interactions with Ms. Guerrero and at one point she allowed us to come inside and search her apartment, despite the fact that she was adamant Audrey was not inside. The child was not located in the apartment at that time. We are still working a timeline to determine if Audrey was there at this time or had left again before we searched only to return later.
Our officers and CBI agents continued to investigate the case. After speaking with Audrey’s mother again, another systematic door-to-door search for the child began. At around 3 AM this morning, we made contact with Ms. Guerrero again. CBI agents and our officers went into the apartment and Audrey was found unharmed in the bedroom closet. Audrey has been returned home.
Subsequently, Ms. Guerrero was placed under arrest for Harboring a Child, a felony crime, and Influencing Public Officials. She is currently being processed at the Teller County Jail. Unless more information comes to light that needs to be shared there will not be any other information released in this case. Booking photos can be obtained online through TCSO’s websites when it becomes available. Thank you all for your help with broadcasting the information.
