Divide Cafe Offers Much More than Great Coffee
As soon as this popular eatery opened up at the intersection of Hwys. 24 and 67 in Divide, people flocked to the Munchie Cottage.
The eatery started as a merge of two well-known local businesses. But with a new operational change that has received stellar reviews, Margaret Burrous is now the sole owner of the coffee shop/restaurant, which sports a new name, “Home of Margaret’s Munchies.”
The building just got a huge sign, donning its new name, which can be easily seen from the stop light at the intersection of the two main highways in Divide’s main intersection. Although the famous spot is now under new ownership, the eatery is still known as a prime spot for a cup of Joe and a delicious meal.
And even though the Home of Margaret’s Munchies is well-known as a top spot for coffee and breakfast in the morning, they have much more to offer during their hours of operation from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. “We have giant breakfast burritos that are served all day,” Burrous said. “We serve breakfast and lunch all day long. In all reality, if they want a breakfast burrito at four o’clock in the afternoon, they can get it. Or, if they want a cheeseburger at eight in the morning, they can get it.”
The café runs a special all the time during which if someone buys three Danishes, they can get one for free. They also serve yak meat all day, every day. They also serve a new daily soup special, including a Philly Cheese Yak Soup, which is a part of the rotation.
To add to their menu, the eatery’s staff comes up with specials from time to time including during holidays. Last weekend, they sold boxes of homemade truffles to customers as a special treat for Valentine’s Day.
This summer the Margaret’s Munchies food trailer will also be out and about. “We still have the food trailer and we will still be doing events this summer,” Burrous said. “We are still doing all of the events this summer that we normally do.”
Recently, Burrous said that she has got into making more sugar-free items. “I have sugar-free items for diabetics, and they are so happy because they kept saying, ‘Margaret, it is so unfair that you have all this good stuff but nothing sugar-free,’” Burrous said. “So, I’m trying to get a bunch of stuff going for people.”
