It’s onto Week 17 in the world of professional football Madness and when the real season hits a near climax: The final showdown for the NFL Playoffs.
The Denver Broncos are definitely in the race, for a change, and Bronco Playoff Fever is alive and well. The Broncs are still hedging their hopes on ending a playoff drought that seems to have existed since the Ice Age (actually it is from 2015).
Regardless, they have fooled dooms-day skeptics who predicted that the Broncs would be lucky to win five games.
Now, they face a “Do or Die” scenario and would like nothing more to win out, giving them the definite assurance they will playing in post-season. Plus, two more wins would give them definite playoff ammunition. The media pundits recently went nuts over the Broncs’ 31-13 ugly and bizarre win, a victory granted partially due to a Christmas gift from Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, who inadvertently fumbled the ball in an apparent touchdown celebration.
All in all, it was a Tiger Woods-like victory, when true grit makes up for the fact that you are playing with your C, D or in Broncos’ quarterback Bo Nix’s case, your F game. Bo, though, prevailed in the final minutes, when it counted. As Tiger often said, it is really how mean and competitive you are, when you don’t have your best stuff, that really makes or determines a winner.
The Broncos/Bengals game is set for this weekend and at the time of this writing, an exact time wasn’t determined, with many predicting a Saturday matchup due to the playoff implications. In any case, the Broncs will be in Cincy Land; then they head home for their final home game against the Chiefs. Under a hopeful scenario, the Broncos have a good probability of winning these final contests, as the Chiefs may rest Patrick Mahomes and other starters in the final.
The Broncos aren’t going to be resting anyone, unless they are headed for a hospital or the morgue.
If you are not a Broncos fan, fret not, as plenty of other great NFL options abound. We highly suggest the Chiefs and Steelers duel on Christmas day. That is a biggie for the Terrible Towel folks in the Steel City, who are hoping for an upset. Another big game is the Commanders versus the Falcons.
If you are looking for a great place to take in prime NFL action this week, including the Broncos-Chargers open war, don’t forget McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub in Divide, the sponsor of our fine NFL Page and Broncos’ preview. McGinty’s, with their sports bar setup and winner of many Best Of awards in the High Country, offers a prime opportunity to view nearly all of the NFL games and partake in some great game food and drink specials.
Overall, it is a great game atmosphere. Additionally, McGinty’s sports a friendly staff and has food entrees just made for NFL football. It also is a prime spot for Thursday night games, which aren’t easily available to most fans, and of course, college ball. In fact, this is a prime spot for the College Bowl games.
Enjoy Week 17 and Go Broncos.
