Tribute to Derek Waide Bowen, “Our Dungeon Master”

Derek Bowen, a beloved member of the Cripple Creek community, passed away on October 11 at the age of 55.

Born on March 6,1969, Derek was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and a smile that never seemed to fade. He was a dedicated Father, Son, Grandfather, Uncle, Husband, and Friend. Always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and brighten your spirits on a dark day. Derek had a great passion for his family, as well as everything revolving around the fantasy world. He spent a great amount of his time painting beautiful Dungeons and Dragons figurines, and he loved more than anything spending time with his grandson’s and his family.

His presence will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Despite his absence, Derek’s legacy of patience, compassion, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to have known him.

Derek is survived by his father and mother, Darrell and Ann Bowen; his children, Corey Lavack, Virginia Hughes, and Daniel Bowen; his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews; his ex-wife and his grandchildren. Services for Derek will be announced shortly.
