WPSD Celebrates Significant Improvements in Academic Achievement

The following is a press release submitted by the Woodland Park School District

The Woodland Park School District (WPSD) is proud to announce substantial improvements in student performance in all schools on the latest state assessments.

The district has marked one of its most impressive years yet, with a nearly 10% increase in both Math and English Language Arts scores from the previous spring testing cycle. These gains signify progress and position the district above the state averages in both subjects.

WPSD achieved a composite score percentage of 73.8% and was awarded a Distinction rating for elementary and middle school performance. These scores surpass this year’s state averages and represent a significant improvement over the district’s scores last year, reflecting the success of its ongoing commitment to academic excellence.

All Woodland Park schools earned the highest rating, which is Performance. In addition, each school saw notable increases in their composite scores percentage:

Ken Witt, superintendent, emphasized the district’s focused approach, “This academic leap
forward is a testament to the resilience and determination of our students and staff. We have been laser-focused on academic excellence, and exceeding the state averages in both math and English reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and the effectiveness of new initiatives, preparing our students for future success.”

Board President Mick Bates said, “We’re incredibly proud of the progress made, and these
results underscore the importance of the educational direction this board has set. We are
committed to providing the best possible education for our students, and will continue to support initiatives that drive academic success, ensuring every student in WPSD has the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

WPSD remains committed to creating an environment where students excel academically. The district will continue to implement innovative strategies and provide the necessary resources to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.
