Chamber Business After Hours is Teller County’s largest networking event.  The Sept. After Hours is being hosted by Community Partnership Family Resource Center at 701 Gold Hill Place. All Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce members are encouraged to attend.  Take advantage of this opportunity to network and catch up with your friends, clients and customers plus meet new members in an informal setting.  Business After Hours is a great way to share information about your business and learn about other members. Shining Mountain Still Open For Play.  The Shining Mountain (SM) Golf Course in Woodland Park is still in full stride for their 2024 season, with daily tee times and  play contingent on weather conditions.  The course is in great shape for the late-summer/early fall.  In addition, the driving range and chipping area/putting green is open, along with the spacious SM bar and outdoor patio. Some of the new happenings include Majestic Mondays, with great deals for 18-holes with a cart.  Some of the new links and social events are SM’s 9-hole Scramble tournaments and other social fun events. The Green Mountain Falls Board of Trustees will meet on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. in the GMF Town Hall.  The meeting is available in-person or on Zoom.

Wednesday, Sept. 18

Wellness Walk. Scheduled for Sept. 18  at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the upper level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission.

The Cripple Creek City Council will meet on Sept. 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the CC Council Chambers . The meeting is available in-person and on Zoom.

Thursday, Sept. 19

TOPS. Takes Off Pounds Sensibly.  Meets every Thursday morning at 9 a.m. in the basement of Church in the Wildwood (10585 Ute Pass Ave.) Green Mountain Falls, CO 80819. Affordable, effective weight-loss.

The Woodland Park City Council will meet on Sept. 19  at  6:30 p.m. in the council chambers, next to city hall. The meeting is available in-person and on Zoom.

Friday, Sept. 20

Scramble Fridays.  The Shining Mountain Golf Course will host their weekly co-ed Scramble 9-hole tournament.  Teams will be established based on skill or no skill levels.  Designed as a fun get-together. For  more information and to sign up and for the specific tee-off times, call 719-687-7587.

 

Saturday, Sept. 21

Autumn and Art. Scheduled at the Cripple Creek Heritage Center,  9263 South Hwy. 67, from Sept. 20 to Sept. 29. Mount Pisgah Speaks, Cemetery Tours. Scheduled for Sept. 21-22. Ghosts from the past come to life in this educational-but-slightly-creepy afternoon hosted by the Gold Camp Victorian Society. Learn who is buried in Mt. Pisgah and their history through live reenactments with a trolley ride to the cemetery! Tickets for the event can be purchased outside the Cripple Creek District Museum or advanced reservations can be made at info@goldcampvictoriansociety.org or 719-270-2504.  The trolley will pick up guests at the ticket booth and transport them to Mt. Pisgah Cemetery (only trolley passengers may participate) for their supernatural experience.  The hours for the tours this year are 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Trolleys will depart the Cripple Creek District Museum every 30 minutes.

Sunday, Sept 22.

Broncos and NFL Football.  The Denver Broncos square off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. A great place to catch the action live is at the McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub in Divide, which features a variety of televisions and is where you see virtually all NFL games and enjoy great game food and drink specials. Music at the Depot.  The live music carnival continues at the Cripple Creek District Museum with the third installment of the popular Music at the Depot series. The next concert series is set for Sept. 28 and features The Beloved Invaders for an outdoor show from 2 to 6 p.m.  The festivities, include a grand stage at the museum, a tent pavilion area and plenty of food and beer. Celebration of gambling in Cripple Creek. The 33rd annual celebration of the birth of  limited stakes gaming in Cripple Creek will kick off on Oct. 1.  Gaming official began in Cripple Creek,  Central City and Black Hawk on Oct. 1, 1991.  Read all about the development of gaming in TMJ’s annual Gaming and Fall/Tourist Guide, and the latest happenings for local casinos and upcoming fall and winter events, slated for publication on Oct. 1. Fall Festival. The Cripple Creek Fall Festival is being planned for the weekend of October 5 & 6, produced by the Two Mile High Club. There will be live music, a beer garden, fall themed adult beverages, a pie judging contest, chili cook off, fall photoshoots, vendors, professional wood carving displays/demonstrations, sculptures for sale, and more! This is a free event which is open to the general public.  Plan your trip to check out the fall colors and spend a little time enjoying Cripple Creek. All proceeds collected during the event will be used for the care and upkeep of our beloved wild donkey herd that roams the streets of Cripple Creek.  These descendants from the early days of mining are an example of the grit and determination of the founders of our great community.  Come and support the donkeys and enjoy a fun time in Cripple Creek. Candidates Forum. Scheduled for Oct. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Woodland Park Council Chambers.
