A Rare Culinary Treat For Visitors and Locals
These days it seems like most eateries in the area offer some sort of a hamburger on their menu.
Since the competition for what place can boast of the best burger in the Teller/Ute Pass culinary land, local restaurants are forced to use their creativity to make their establishment’s burgers stand out.
Some places choose to decorate their beef patties with unique toppings. Other set their hamburgers apart by using locally raised meats.
However, The Creek Restaurant in Cripple Creek sets their burgers apart by using elk meat. In a region where hunting is common, the addition of game meat to their menu definitely sets the eatery above the rest.
Using an elk patty instead of beef seems to give the burger a unique taste that locals and visitors tend to love. The subtle “wild game” flavor at a reasonable price keeps elk lovers returning to The Creek.
The meat is leaner than beef, which could prove to be a tasty alternative for those who happen to be watching the scale. And since most other eateries don’t offer any type of game meat on their menus, the elk burger provides a special treat for those visiting the area.
And if an elk burger sounds good to potential patrons, they most likely will love The Creek Elk Sirloin Medallions on the menu as well. With freshly cooked elk steaks being hard to find in the region, game meat lovers tend to especially enjoy the two four-once medallion steaks wrapped in bacon.
In fact, ever since The Creek reopened with a new and improved menu three years ago, the place has really put its name on the map for being a “go-to” eatery to try while in the historic gambling town. And since the business is one of the city’s only restaurants not attached to a casino, it has become a prime stop for families checking out the area.
Aside from their elk selections, The Creek’s menu is filled with delicious, home-made appetizers, entrees and desserts. The bar gets especially full during their happy hour specials and is a prime place to watch Broncos’ games in the fall. And to make things even better, the eatery has recently added new items to their menu.
The Creek is open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the bar occasionally staying open later. The eatery is also for breakfast every Saturday and Sunday morning.
