Woodland Park High School’s (WPHS) Athletic Training Program, led by Athletic Trainer Melissa Yeryar, has been honored with the First Team Award from the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) for the Safe Sports School Award.
The NATA’s Safe Sports School Award recognizes schools that meet rigorous requirements and recommendations for the safety and well-being of student-athletes. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the outstanding efforts of Yeryar and the entire athletic program at WPHS.
WPHS’s Athletic Director, Chad Cosner, praised Yeryar for her dedication to student-athlete safety. “We are immensely proud of Melissa Yeryar and the entire athletic program at WPHS for achieving the First Team Award from NATA,” stated Cosner.
In a school boasting 17 sports, Yeryar’s commitment to ensuring the safety of every student-athlete resulted in this remarkable achievement. The First Team Award signifies that WPHS has not only met but exceeded the high standards of NATA, making it a safe environment for student-athletes to pursue their passion while minimizing risks.
Yeryar, the sole Athletic Trainer at WPHS, expressed her gratitude and dedication to student-athletes’ safety. “This award is a collective achievement for our school and community. It reflects our commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for our student-athletes. I am proud to be a part of a program that prioritizes the health and safety of our students,” said Yeryar.
