Wolf Naming Contest Gaining Momentum

Dear Editor:

The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center is pleased to announce that in just over one week’s time, we have 68 schools participating in the naming contest! The name currently in the lead is Aspen!

As a reminder, students can choose from a list of 14 potential names for the wolves. Educators will be sent an educational document and the rules for the contest. Each student will have the opportunity to vote once for their favorite name. We have sent this invitation to all public middle schools in Colorado we could reach.

If you have not received an invitation and would like the contest information to be sent to your school, please reach out to us and we will forward the details. We would like to formally extend the invitation to homeschooled students in eligible grade levels. Additional updates, educational information, and resources will be distributed to each school participating within the week. Votes will be tallied no later than January 1st.

To those participating, we sincerely thank you for becoming involved in this historic endeavor. With great respect to their wildness, these wolves will be recognized as more than an ID number to those that have become involved and invested in their survival and long-term success.

We look forward to informing you on the progress of the contest and the reintroduction of wolves back to their native landscape.
