The wait will soon be over for the opening of one of Colorado’s most popular winter attractions. Ice Castles in Cripple Creek, Colorado will open to the public at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. The attraction originally anticipated an open date in early January, but colder temperatures made opening before the holidays possible.

Ice artisans are working around the clock to get the attraction in Teller County ready for the grand opening on Tuesday. The interactive experience will feature ice-carved tunnels, fountains, slides, frozen thrones, and cascading towers of ice embedded with color-changing LED lights.

“We’re excited to finally announce our opening day in Colorado,” said Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird, “Mother Nature has been good to us this season, and we’re excited to welcome guests to Ice Castles over the holiday break.”

Ice Castles will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but the attraction plans to operate extended hours during the 2-week Christmas break. Tickets are on sale now through the attraction’s website,

The Utah-based company has three other Ice Castles locations in Midway, Utah; Maple Grove, Minnesota; and North Woodstock, New Hampshire, as well as two Winter Realms locations in Lake George, New York; and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Additional information and promotional images can be found at
