Broncos Battle the Roaring Lions on Prime Time, Saturday

Ideal Viewing Opportunities at Teller’s Favorite Sports Bar

It’s onto Week 15 in the NFL, and it’s prime time, baby. Yes, the Denver Broncos/Russell Wilson Comeback Tour is slated for a Saturday night special on national television.

Hang onto your seat and get ready for the wild ride. The Denver Broncos are still lingering on the edge of the playoff race, looking to end a nearly decade-long, post-season drought. This is the second-worst playoff drought in the league, when it comes to the last 10 years.  And to end this atrocious spell, the Broncs need some outside help and can’t lose, period.

The Denver Broncos square off against the Detroit Lions, in lovely Detroit, in a rare contest, on the evening of Dec. 16, with kick-off scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Perfect time for a night out at your favorite sports bar/hangout, with a few cold ones and hearty meal to enjoy a little Christmas cheer and a Broncos win.  Or maybe you need to get away from the holiday madness for a few hours.

The Lions, of course, are the surprise team of 2023, but they have shown signs of slipping in recent weeks. Still, they will remain the overall favorites.

The good news: TMJ’s Trevor Phipps is predicting a Lions win.  If you are superstitious like many of us are who watch the Broncs on a regular basis, that pick will bode well for Denver. Virtually every time Trevor has made a wager on a Broncos loss, they end up in the winning circle.

Superstitions aside, playoff fever is still brewing for the Broncos.

Let’s just hope for no more coaching mishaps, such as what occurred at the end of the recent Houston Texans game. Coach Sean Payton described their final play (which could have given them a victory and an extra edge in the playoff race) as Chaos. Dumb excuse as Chaos was the ill-fated way the Broncos’ coaching staff managed the clock, almost forcing Russell Wilson to make uncatchable throws. Bad craziness.

Unfortunately, results from the LA Chargers weren’t available prior to press time, so we can’t make any specific comments about the playoff scenario, which seems to change on an hourly basis.

Regardless, the forthcoming Lions game though, is becoming the talk of the NFL.  If you are looking for a great and fun place to check out the action and spend a good portion of your Saturday night,  don’t forget McGinty’s Wood Oven Pub in Divide, the “The Center of the Known Universe,” the sponsor of our fine NFL Football page and Bronco previews and a slew of predictions.

McGinty’s, with its sports bar setup and winner of many Best Of awards in the High Country, offers a prime opportunity to view nearly all of the NFL games (And there are some great ones, this week; just check out the accompanying article by Trevor Phipps), and partake in some great game food and drink specials. For Broncos’ games, they are offering great deals on Coors draft beers and Bloody Mary’s

They also offer a prime spot also for Thursday night games, which are usually hard to catch. In addition, McGinty’s is a prime spot for viewing the forthcoming college bowl games and a slew of great NFL pigskin games, along with some enticing hockey action.
