WPSD Athletics Weekly Update August 31, 2023

Cross Country – According to Coach Jeremy Grier, last year was about building a base and getting the athletes to understand the commitment it takes to be great.” This year, it is about competing and wanting to be the best.

Competing is exactly what the Panther cross country teams have been doing to start the season. Both teams finished in 3rd place in their first competition of the year. The only teams to finish ahead of them are currently ranked in the top 10. Both teams had multiple athletes finish in the top 10 individually.

In their second competition of the season, the boys’ team took 3rd place, and the girls finished 7th against 23 schools. Both teams were missing some key runners that would have helped the teams place even higher. On the girls side, Stella Schroeder and Nora Scicluna finished 3rd and 7th out of 212 runners.
