The Teller County Commissioners will meet on Aug. 22 at 9:15 a.m. in the Centennial Building in Cripple Creek. This marks a time change from their normal meeting times.
The Green Mountain Falls Planning Commission will meet on Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the GMF Town Hall. The meeting is available in-person and on Zoom.

Wellness Walk. Scheduled for August 16 at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the upper level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission

The Woodland Park City Planning Commission will meet on Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the WP Council Chambers, next to city hall. The meeting is available in-person and on Zoom.
Shining Mountain Links Activity. The Shining Mountain Golf Course and clubhouse bar in Woodland Park has kicked into full-gear for the 2023 season. Tee-times are available, starting at 8 a.m., weather permitting. Conditions are excellent for this time of the year, and the facility has undergone many improvements. In addition, the driving range and practice chipping and putting greens are open for practice. SM features special trivia nights every Thursday, starting at 6:30 p.m. (including a food truck) and other special events for the public. Also, check out their special charity golf tournaments, benefitting key groups around the county. Farmers Market. This annual summer and fall tradition kicks into full-gear on North Street next to Memorial Park and occurs every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our Vendors come from all over Colorado and provide a variety of products to choose from. Live Music. The Painted Bear gift shop in Green Mountain Falls will host its summer music series, featuring live performers on Friday evenings throughout the summer from 5;30 to 7 p.m. The music occurs outdoors (special arrangements are made in case of inclement weather) in the scenic, back patio area. The Ute Pass Literary Guild (a book club) is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of its founding Saturday, August 26 at the Woodland Park Public Library from 1:30 –3:30. The public is invited. At the celebration, members will share the books that shaped their lives, that gave them joy, and that changed their thinking and opinions. They will also mention the books that ended up in the rubbish bin! The book list is astounding and there will be copies of the list available at the celebration.

The Gold Camp Victorian Society will present Original Historical Gold Camp Trolley Tours again this summer. The tours, which kicked off on Saturday, May 27, continuing every Saturday through Labor Day weekend, with the exceptions of June 17th and August 12th. Each tour begins at 1 pm from the District Museum parking area in Cripple Creek. These 90-minute tours are led by our Victorian hostesses and feature many of the characters from Cripple Creek’s storied past. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. First Responder Golf Challenge. Hosted by the Teller County Sheriff’s Office and presented by the Honorary Deputy Sheriff Association. The event is scheduled at Shining Mountain Golf Course on Aug. 25, with a tee-off time at 8 a.m. Represent your favorite first responder agency for nine holes (in a scramble) format. Monday Music Series. These series of concerts are held in the heart of Green Mountain Falls and continue until the end of August. They are sponsored by the Ute Pass Chamber of Commerce and occur every Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The next and final concert, scheduled for August 28 show features the music of Nube Nueve. Victor Celebrates the Arts. One of the region’s most popular festivals, showcasing a variety of artists and art work, will be held in Victor from Sept. 1-4. Visitors can view the artists at work, first-hand, and have an opportunity to purchase a slew of art pieces at the Victor Elks Lodge, and enjoy a spree of festivities. Free Bird Walk. A free fall bird walk by Better Birdwatching with wildlife biologist Joe LaFleur will be held Saturday, Sept. 2 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Meet at the new American Eagles upper parking lot for a bird walk on the Grouse Mountain trails. Access to the area is just west of Victor; from Victor drive west on Highway 67 and turn left on the American Eagles Access Road just before the Arequa Gulch Bridge. Follow the access road to the upper parking lot. Binoculars are suggested and the event is open to ages 5 and up. Dress for mountain weather and hiking on rough terrain. Following the walk, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. LeFleur will present a free program at the Victor Lowell Thomas Museum, 298 Victor Ave. Learn to identify local birds in this audiovisual presentation. After the program, LaFleur will be at the museum signing his new Teller County bird guide book and answering questions about birds.
